I have decided to come clean...
I have decided to come clean...
I can't keep it to myself any longer, and it is getting worse and worse.
I have an uncontrollable need for my explorer to scout the very edges of the map. Sometimes my explorer have to take de-tours around TP's, cliffs, etc so make that last spot of black disappear.
Most players send their explorer forward as soon as the game starts, not me, I send it back to the nearest edge. From there I go a little to the right, and then I go left. Once the area behind my TC is scouted, I zig-zag my way across the map.
Whenever I find livestock I also send them on a scouting mission, causing me to lose some of them, but that does not bother me at all as long as they have scouted a reasonable area of the map.
The area behind my opponents TC is none of my concern and I usually don't bother, unless I have rescued a monkey, then I send that. On some maps I have up to 4 control groups with various "explorers" going at the same time, making age 1 quite a stressful age.
Does any of you have the same need?

I'd really suggest using Ports. Spy glass can help scouts those pesky corners of the map and reduce your anxiety. Trust me it'll blow your mind.
Re: I have decided to come clean...
mate you should be playing aoe2, there's an award for that at the end of each game

I dislike black holes (black holes ? ) in the center of the scouted area so I try to create a convex shape while exploring

I never scout. I just think what i would do if i were them. Usually i play reasonably intelligent people and my predictions are correct 9/10 times. Sometimes i play a complete idiot who does the dumbest shit imaginable that would never work if i bothered to scout, which i dont, so i lose some of those games. But its totally worth it. Idiots need wins too.

I should always win. And therefore I have never lost.

Nothing is ever original. Diarouga has done everything already.

That says a lot about you, not much, if anything about my post. Don't unburden the drudgery that is your life on the shoulders of other people.

It's a shame the original post from this topic was deleted, sure helped me out when I first saw it https://eso-community.net/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8739&hilit=scouting
@Diarouga any chance you still have the graphics from the original post?

AoE-Scouting-OCD interesting (Symptom: you can't have idle units)

I have explorer, livestock, scouts, etc running around the edges of the map. My un-upgraded musketeers however, stay put until my opponent attack me with falcs.
