Puma running animation after attacking
I watched a stream recently, where 3 pumas were chasing some CDBs, and after each hit they moved with their running animation. Did they get sped up? Is it normal for melee infantry, for Aztec infantry, for Pumas?
Re: Puma running animation after attacking
Doesn't seem right. Perhaps the guy was microing them actively with the drag-box mechanic.
Pay more attention to detail.

Doesn't drag-boxing require more units to be in the vicinity?
Re: Puma running animation after attacking
It does. Maybe it was simply the terrain that made them run (i.e. downhill).

The ground appeared flat

This is a defined game mechanic, what you're seeing is indeed that the unit gets a speed boost for a short period of time after every attack.

Puma feel that way too. Is that other infantry as well? I think it is, but is more easy to see on puma because they have a higher speed..?

I thought so for a moment. I do recall Corsairs/Landsknechts/Dopps moving a bit funny while attacking, but I was not sure.

They just flail their pixel limbs around more, which makes it visible.
Re: Puma running animation after attacking
So when the unit stops to attack, it still moves in its own imagination, and when the attack animation is over it drag-boxes itself with its imagined self and gets a speed boost? That's trippy af

Works that way for most melee attacks in the game, except for specific things like hand cav in melee mode (actually even hand cav gets it in other modes, which is quite interesting as defend mode could be considered superior to regular melee due to this).

Nah it's got nothing to do with dragbox, this is a separate "speedboost" mechanic more related to snare. Basically the units both slow down their target and speed themselves up at the same time, to catch up easily for the next attack.

Damn it. I never run out of things to test in this game. Defend Mode sounds awkward though because of the messed up formation. Maybe stand ground with good micro.
Re: Puma running animation after attacking
Could be game changing. But does attack move change their stance?
Re: Puma running animation after attacking
I think the fact that buffering works on meelee attack too is more game changing. Like pikes hitting cav from 3 tiles once they locked.
Re: Puma running animation after attacking
Doesn't seem to happen much, compared to ranged units.
