[spoiler=Details!]Sunday Smackdown pits two top players against each other in a best of 7 series. Tune into Interjection’s YouTube channel every most Sundays at 19:00 to watch the live premiere!
Mitoe & I will be your new weekly hosts! Most weeks we'll play ordinary supremacy, but sometimes we'll come up with totally new rules to keep things fresh:
All matches start in the colonial age
Shipments arrive instantly
Settlers train instantly
All age ups are free
Deathmatch that starts in the discovery age
All cards give their effect twice (700w = 1400w!!)
That was very poetic, @Interjection A lot of hussars makes a lot of sense "rest in peace" for these artillery pieces Kaiserklein does resign
I think the format is going to be very successful. Better than Twitch imho. Thank you very much and thanks to the players for some awesome games. Indeed the series highlighted why is Age I so important.
I have an idea: what if the cost of getting to the colonial age was 1200f 200w 100c?

Was fun to watch, thanks to the casters and players. In a way it is better for viewers because the action starts sooner, age 1 is pretty slow for viewers/casters.
Also, Miterjection works well together. Mitoe has a similar casting style to Zuta.
I really enjoy the series, thanks to both players and the casters! I haven't gotten around to watching the last game yet, but by knowing how more minute I have to watch and what the current score is, I can make an educated guess about who is going to win.
I enjoy the colonial starts because they make for some refreshing gameplay and there isn't a 4-minute intro to every game where the most exciting things are treasure contentions. That being said, I think I am looking forward even more to the series played on the "original" gamemode but with balance changes (such as the fixed politicians).
This video was recorded locally and edited afterwards. Here's my thoughts on it
Pros -Good quality. Upload speed is no issue since you record locally. -Perhaps less lag because you dont stream? -Edited video, so you can cut out downtime, restarts, pauses, etc -Casters and players can engage in the live chat and give commentary on the commentary/games -Starts exactly on time, no issue scheduling -Video is instantly uploaded on YouTube to watch as a VOD. -Things like invitespammer and ESO down are less of an issue.
Cons -Not Twitch. No Twitch emotes or discovery through Twitch. YouTube live seems less developed. -Cant interact with viewers during stream -For tournaments a bit inconvenient because of the delay between playing & broadcasting -You have to comment using Google accounts
I agree with that assessment! You'd never do this for tournaments though unless you had a team of casters able to catch every game from the round of 32 or something hahaha.
The quality was 20k bitrate, but I can go higher!! Not sure it will make any difference though as YouTube reencodes all uploads.
I plan to eventually move onto Twitch but for now I want to keep all the views in the same place to get the most out of the YouTube algorithm.
I think I prefer premiering live on YouTube above using esoctv2 as a Twitch channel when we have 2 tournament games at the same time, which is the most important decision we have to make.
I think ESOC should do that for tournament games too, and cast from recorded games. It was as entertaining as a stream, and players won't have lag issues.
Casting from recs is fine, premiering on youtube is meh. Lack of chat does take away some of the fun, for me at least.
Cool experiment. I think age2 starts are kinda fun, but it also seems to me that it makes the game even more unbalanced than it already is.
A cheaper age up cost to colonial and thus a shorter age1 might be better than skipping it entirely, though again its hard to balance as some civs would reach colonial wothout a shipment. So i think that should be considered and tweaked a little.

Yes ofc, but still bad
