I am privileged to bring to you an update about our beloved Age of Empires 4. Before you all dismiss this as a hoax, let me just paste the two links here so you can check for yourself:

Follow these links to discover that a Polish composer was chosen and is in the works of producing the soundtrack for the next installment. Which means this game is happenin for reals and more details will probably start being revealed soon :)

Don't know why the nationality plays such a huge role for you guys, but it is definitely a welcome sign for their commitment to the aoeIV project.

The wording on the facebook profile is interesting as it stats that "I've been writing music for this awesome legendary title Age of Empires 4", which indicates that the process is going for some time.

Do you think one could somehow predict the AoE4 time frame, given of what we know about the composer?
More modern music -> more modern time frame?

Of course it's been going for some time, the game's been announced in 2017...

Yeah, but you know that they were quite silent on giving news about any actual progress... This is the first news where someone claims to work on actual content and not just "we plan to work on aoe4 somewhere in the future". Just being announced, it does not mean that anyone is actually working on it currently.

If anything, Poland implies that 2nd WW is entirely excluded from options. Firstly, Poland was merely a secondary power, not really interesting to include directly at the beginning. Secondly, Poland was far more powerful between ~1450-1750 as Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
If Poland is a faction in AoE4, then we will see a timeframe of roughly 1400-1900 and potentially a continental european context (religious wars/Ottoman expansion/Russian expansion/revolutionary wars) with factions such as Poland(PLC)/Sweden/Brandenburg(Prussia)/Austria/Hungary/Netherlands/France/GB/Russia/Ottoman/Spain. I would love such a game and could imagine expansions adding smaller/more distant/later countries such as Tuscany/Safawid Persia/Ming China/United States/Mughals/Manchu/Mamluks.

The problem that the setup of AoE games (start small, grow big) does not fit to an already heavily populated continent can be countered by imagining frontier areas such as the border between the Ottoman and Habsburg Empires. For centuries this border area was shifting back and forth and new cities/forts/castles were built from the scratch to hold newly acquired territory. Same could be said about Russian expansion. This could be an opportunity to justify the common AoE framework of "colony-style" progress.

lol, the fact that the music composer is from Poland means nothing about the game era, you are trying to read to much into this. He could just as easilly write music for ancient ages or the ww2...
