I'm sure this will influence the development of AoE4 and/or AoE3:DE. Make sure they hear plenty from the AoE3 community!

Yeah I just filled it out. In a knee jerk reaction I put fun at a 2 and frustration at a 4. I was gonna adjust fun up to a 4 because a 2 is not fair, it hasn't been that fun for me recently but I still had loads of fun 2010-2016, and even into 2018 it was still kinda fun, but now I finished it and it won't let me go back. Frustration at a 4 I will stand by though.

How did you get that? Why is there a confidential statement to accept?

I answered considering the first 10 years and several thousand of hours in the game. What I feel about a game 14 years after the release is not important.

What a long ass survey that was.
I can't wait for AOE4 to come out. For the love of all things holy I hope they take care of the game properly.

Can't wait to see a "sequel" to our ESOC, which likely would be a sub-forum, where our joyful little town goes on a new adventure and explores a new game together.
Unless said game sucks, of course

There's a confidential statement due to them holding on to your answer, it's standard practice now since facebook had that info leak a few months back.

Found the survey on reddit. Unsure of the original source.
EDIT: Looks like the posted it on their official Facebook.

I just woder why they are making a survey now about how the game should be when the game will come out in about a few moths
Re: Microsoft is putting an Age of Empires survey, make your voice heard!
A few months? That sounds like a very very optimistic estimate considering we know next to nothing about AoE2:DE, AoE3:DE, or AoE4.

AOE4 is in a more advanced stage than you think. Video game productions are a bit like film productions, and they had some "footage" to show the composer in January 2019 already. Since they have recorded likely most of the music by now, they are ca. 5-12 months away from the release.
The heralding of further questions within 90 days for all subscribers also suggests that they are seriously working on it right now.

Well they may have all the graphic/technical part already set up, but on relic's site there are still positions open for hiring, such as campaign designer and AI programmer.

The fact they're doing a survey like this now makes me think that aoe4 is a very long way off. Like 2021 or later.

My assumption would be that the game engine is more or less complete with physics engine and stuff, but with the actual time period and the civ designs, campaigns, and unit models/graphics left to do.
Which, is basically the whole game we see but the easy part to do once the programming is done

Re: Microsoft is putting an Age of Empires survey, make your voice heard!
I responded with how the game code really needs to be polished and simplified.
An example would be repentant mercs? Why have Asian versions with different modifiers? Clusters the game up... Keep the unit the same and use string text to change the name to repentant... If that's even needed. I mean it's a Merc that you paid gold for... What even makes it repentant?
Less is better in these situations.
