Re: E3 2019
Considering ms recently made a pool about what we expect for aoe4, I have the feeling that they are really early in develpment, so I woulndt expect anything about it in this e3, but hopefully i'm wrong.
But I do expect something in this e3 tho, likelly aoe2de.
that link claims aoe4 will be ready next year, if thats the case we could definetelly see something this year... but idk how trustable is this source

Re: E3 2019
Were worker units in danger?
But an Age of Empires game using the DoW / CoH engine and with squads? Ok, why not! If they go for COH2-like realism, then I don't care what age they set it in---I'm in!
After all, Battle for Middle Earth used squads of several soldiers as basic units and it was ok. In fact, one could argue that Russians and Chinese in AoE3 already fight like that.

Re: E3 2019
Wait, am I seeing correctly or that poster confirmed Age4 will be Service Game? After all the shite and criticism the industry had to endure for pushing this monetization model on and on, they are still doinnit for Age4? Have they learned nothing?

Re: E3 2019
Aoe4 being squad based would be a letdown.

Re: E3 2019
I read an article saying Age of Empires 4 was on a leaked agenda list for E3 presentations
Can't seem to find it now but 100% saw it there.

Is the service model really that bad? Starcraft 2 was basically reborn from the ashes when they transitioned.

Re: E3 2019
It can be okay, but I think most people would still prefer a game which is standalone from the trappings of a service model, I.e micro-transactions etc

Re: E3 2019
Sure I agree, but as long as they aren’t pay to win I could care less (although the unit skins are annoying as shit at first on sc2 for example.
@VooDoo_BoSs https://www.game-debate.com/news/27178/ ... x-showcase this is all
I’ve seen and it only confirms AOE, not specific games.

Re: E3 2019
Does squad necessarily mean that each unit is its own “squad” of 5-10 units? It seems like you could almost call the formations in AoE3 “squads” as well. Hard to say what it will really be like until we know more I guess.

Dang, someone in Redmond is working on the next AoE.
I'm about to stalk bars around the Microsoft campus for intel.

Re: E3 2019
If it's RoN-style squads, then you can individually micro units. If it's CoH-style (very likely), that's another story...

Re: E3 2019
Oh man squads would be bad. With that alone I think it's already no longer an AoE game.
Clicking individual units is too hard for the people at Relic I guess. Would love to see them play zerg in SC2 and try to select lings on creep
It also seems like one of those things people would assume is the case just because it's being developed by Relic, which has avoided individual unit micro in their previous games. And then the rumor would easily spread because it "sounds plausible".
But surely they know they aren't building a game for CoH fans here. The AoE fan base is very different.
So it sounds as unlikely to me as it would be disappointing: Very.

@lordraphael F2P and a micro-transaction economy. the player base and games/day went up more than 50% and have held steady (grown slightly) since then.
