Some games like battlefield will sell the game for 100usd. but if you buy the "battle pass" for 200usd you already start the game with a m16 rifle against the peasants who bought the standard version and start with a rusty revolver.
"but you can just buy the cheap game and grind for 1200 hours to unlock the m16 rifle!!!! god I hate those games.
$100? $200? that's crazy nilla aoe3 had the cost of maybe $25
I recall buying it and similar games for maybe 100 PLN (close to $25) TWC was worth ca. 60 PLN ($15) TAD somewhere between the two
$80 would be like 320 PLN xD Equal to a really big LEGO set or close to a bike. If that was the price, my 7-year old self would never consider buying it (not to mention my parents).

The world is changing...
You can't compare money from third world nations to western nations like the UK and the US. Games are cheaper in Poland due to the lower average wage of the people who live there. $60 or £40 in the US or the UK respectively really isn't that money.

For electronics that's not true anymore. Simply because you would have arbitrage.
It's true for other items though. Especially with a gamepass they could take advantage and make a second degree price discrimination. Like they do with spotify or netflix. That's for sure a reason why they prefer a gamepass.

Yes I know what PPP is,I do econ at university. Poland isn't third world it's second world, i was just being hyperbolic. But the point is still the same, you can't really compare prices in one nation to another that easily.
Tbh, I think aoe3 was a bargain for me personally at something around 50+30+30 bucks for nilla and all three expansions. Id estimate I have a few thousand of hours invested in the game over 14 years. There are few products that give ~20 hours+ of pure entertainment per euro.
Think about that when you order a beer or get a starbucks coffee. That money gives you like 15 minutes of value. Meanwhile a few bucks into a game you enjoyed as much as aoe3 will give you tens of hours of pure entertainment. Buying aoe3 was for me basically like going to the movies at a price of 10 cents!
So from a personal perspective I wouldnt worry about the price. The only thing is that an excessive price tag will scare others away and turn the game into a failure. It'd be shitty if it'd still take ages to get a game in aoe4.
I will be happy to not hear about aoe3 de and aoe4 at all, that will mean we will be able to play this actual version of aoe3 for a longer period. God knows what they'll do with the definitive edition and aoe4

For a second I thought crossfire x's trailer was aoe4, with it being said in modern era. The two guys sitting in front of a desk seemingly making chess moves felt like a throwback to aoe2's trailer. Fortunately no ww2. Unfortunately no aoe4 at all.
If they started in the last year or slightly more, then there probably isn't game play footage available. It's probably in some pre-alpha state where they don't have good animation for mechanics yet.
