[Poll] Format for a weekend tournament on June 23rd

Hey guys,
The Media Team is planning on having a weekend tournament on Sunday, June 23rd. There are a lot of cool formats that we have to choose from, so no better person to have decide than the community. We'll likely go with the most popular result, but as your magnificent Media Team dictator I reserve my rights to veto as I please (I will veto Standard Supremacy. Don't vote that unless you like wasting votes. @gibson)

I voted for mono civ, last mono civ was so much fun imo and we saw some great games. Although we did have a mono civ recently so I guess it probably won't win.

I voted for smurf

After having read the open suggestions, I support the idea of picking a civ for your opponent, that sounds like a lot of fun

Why would you do a tournament just a few weeks before the LAN ?
It doesn't reallly make sense.

I propose a cav-only format. Obviously light cav units (zamburak, bow rider, keshik, goons and the native equivalents) available in age 2 would only be allowed from age 3 onwards.
Not sure, but I think Sioux siege dance and Jinete should be banned. Oprichniks are fine.

So a huss/goon tourney? Good idea.

The only problem I see is that players will rotate around the same MUs. They are going to be picking mostly British, Indians or French.

Seems like a great time for a 1 day tourney.
Unused civs may be the most interesting/unique to see.

How does a one day tourney a month before the lan do anything to the lan? Great initiative imo

I voted for the 3-civ tourneys, I think it's really nice. It allows you to really think through the match ups you're gonna play vs your opponent, without being as repetitive as the mono civ. Plus we never had that before so it would be refreshing
I doubt that's true, in mono civ we saw all kinds of civs. One different civ per top player I think? It's mostly comfort picks, not balance picks.

A team format could be very cool. Not team games but a 3 vs 3 where for example there is 2 1v1's (BO1?) and 1 2v2. The score can be 3-0 3-1 or 3-2. For those who practises some sport, i speak about something like you do in individual sport like tennis when you're part of a team, with for example the davis cup.

A tournament where you can only use your mouse and not your keyboard. Hotkeys aren't allowed, however, you can accidentally hit a hotkey three times and not get disqualified. If there is more unit or building jumping you get disqualified.

True, all civs were picked in mono civ, however some were again more popular than others, like British or Indians. I have attached the distribution of civs for the 32 participants.

Re: [Poll] Format for a weekend tournament on June 23rd
Of course some civs are picked more than some others, but overall I don't think it would be fair to say it was a boring tourney with always the same civs. Especially because there was a big variety of civs in the later rounds. Iirc the 4 civs in semi finals were ger, aztecs, spain and iro...
