Unfortunately technology gets old very quickly, I bought a new PC last year and right now, with the same money, i could potentially buy a way better PC than what i currently have. It kinda makes you regret your purchase.

"Same money" This isn't entirely accurate, while on paper it maybe same lets say about 1500$, the relative value of that amount a year after is less(or more but ideally less) than what it was. What I mean is for ex. a person with 100$ in 1990, if he doesn't grow its value ( in this case physically increasing the amount of money available), same 100$ would be worth a lot less in today's value.

I dunno about that, CPU performance hasn't increased that much from year to year during the last decade or so. It's been mostly small incremental progress that has been later rolled back by patches which were meant to mitigate the effects of vulnerabilities like Meltdown and Spectre. It's mostly GPUs that have made most progress. Also, lately it seems RAM and SSD prices have been going down again. So, overall, if you bought an OP CPU and decent graphics card a few years ago, you don't really need to upgrade.

@princeofcarthage well here we are talking about a simple 1 year time lapse, money hasn't lost that much value. 1500 euros of last year are more or less the same as 1500 euros today imo.

@Dolan back then i bought a 8GB RAM stick for 80 euros and a 240gb SSD for 60 euros on amazon, right now you could find the same items at half the price pretty much. The same goes for some processors to an extent, ryzen 1600 used to cost 150+ and now i can find it for 115 euros. Overall there was a significant decrease in the price of pc components, also because of mining and everything else. Maybe i worded what i was saying in a misleading way. There hasn't been a lot of progress since last year in terms of performance, so yeah technology doesn't get old *that* quickly, but it's still quite a big jump overall if you are considering the price/performance aspect.

Last year I could watch a movie with food, drinks and travel for about 7$, today it takes about 10$

That's still incredibly cheap, you'd pay something like £50 for that at least in the UK

Yeah mining inflated pc components cost for quite a lot, thank god it's now out of trend and pc components are reducing in price
