Development of a spawn hack detector tool for ESO?
Development of a spawn hack detector tool for ESO?
Dear Community,
has anybody ever considered to develop an automatic spawn hack detector Software for the ESO multiplayer? Certain statistics of rated games are uploaded to "http://www.agecommunity.com/stats/..." as far as I understand. I think it should be enough to put all those values (free unit resources, total gathered ressources, number of built units, maximal pop, types of units built with player's civ) in a relation to detect impossible game states. It is often the case that such hackers play constantly with ~400 pop, or 50k free unit resources while having gathered only 10k with villagers. I also played against japanese players who built 50 LongBow at 6:00 minute mark (we all know that long bows can only be trained by Brits)...
I mean it will still be necessary to verify alarms of such a software by human moderators. But maybe it could be a start to improve. Currently everyone can hack and cheat and there will be NO consequences. That's very sad in my opinion because Age of Empires III is such a great game and being spawn hacked in every fourth game is quite frustrating.

Why develop a unnecessary software when the EP PATCH IS HACK PROOF.
Pretty tired to see players accusing and carping about hackers.. Stop complaining and play on EP.

people can invite you to their room from RE patch
Re: Development of a spawn hack detector tool for ESO?
Because many people don't play on EP patch (a simple fact, especially new players!). And there is no guarantee that there won't be hacks for EP at some points too. You can patch it again and again but you still need to detect them at some point.

Can you still get map / spawn hacked if you play with EP regular games on ESO?

The EP detects and blocks the hacks by checking the game files. Your software would only check your game files, not your opponent's. Thus, if the EP doesn't detect a hack, your software wouldn't either, and your software would miss a lot of stuff (like maphack).
Re: Development of a spawn hack detector tool for ESO?
Alright, let's say you create this analyzer tool to detect hacked matches from agecommunity stats... then what? You continue being able to do nothing against it, other than play on ESOC Patch.

No it would check the uploaded statistics of rated games (this data exists, just click on "detail" on ELO ladders for example) after a game has finished. There is still a need to ban their accounts by official staff after a successful detection and verification. That's a requirement to make it work!
If EP is only checking the game files than it just prevents you (+ other EP players) from hacking but does not prevent anyone without EP. This is a problem if you want to play on the general ESO patch (because there are currently more open games for players on a lower level).

Then you have already failed, because there is no official staff. Last guy got laid off years ago.

Those accounts could just be banned afterwards. Or is this not possible because the staff for banning people does simply not exist anymore? Microsoft is still selling this game. They can't just make it a lawless place. Imagine someone abuses the chat for illegal activities. There needs to be some kind of moderation! Everything else is just irresponsible.
Re: Development of a spawn hack detector tool for ESO?
There is no staff overlooking ESO and moderating. Hasn't been for years. Microsoft could sell the game even if they shut down ESO, they are not legally required to maintain it whatsoever.

Honestly i agree with you in regards to the fact that making a separate tool would be near pointless for RE, however you can't say just use EP, when i doubt you've ever played EP yourself considering your rank, you can't just tell people to use a patch that only people above Cpt use.

Then they should just close ESO immediately. That's definitely against the law (they actually don't need to ban hackers but you can't just leave such a platform without any official moderation at all). At least there needs to be someone to contact in case of illegal activities in chat.

But what can you tell them, then? Just "deal with it", I guess.

Get better, or play against friends. And it's not like you can't find games at a lower rank, you just have to get lucky, so him being pr20 doesn't mean he can't play.

I don't know what to tell you. If you suspect there are somehow "illegal activities" going on in ESO chats, feel free to contact Microsoft about it and see what they say. Good luck.

Which law is that specifically, and is that law enforceable worldwide? Chances are it's not. If you suspect illegal activities in chat you need to be contact local law enforcement not Microsoft.

Lack of Moderation isn't against the law in any sense, it's just bad community-wise

Re: Development of a spawn hack detector tool for ESO?
I agree with eaglemut.. as u said @Riotcoke . i dont play ep.. cos of less players.. and this seems to be the exact reason for many of the players.
The solution is right there.. but we are just dumbs to not use it.and spend time on accusing other players of cheating.

It is usually not just accusing other players of cheating. It is often very easy to prove that they cheat indeed using post game statistics (at least those hackers which cheat on an extreme basis can be catched easily). I just wonder why those proofs are not taken serious... There could be (for example) a community maintained list of confirmed hackers which is moderated by ESOC staff and which is used to warn the player when cheaters join their game lobby on EP. I mean, what else can we do if Microsoft fails to do it...
