How do i just 'improve'?
Re: How do i just 'improve'?
I still don't understand where your claim come from. Am I a scrub because I decide to play some games for fun trying new strats?
I don't understand what you mean by "restrict by some artificial way". The only restriction is really the effort I decide to put in tourney games which it's not much admittedly. I don't think that makes me any scrub. If I really wanted to try hard I could totally do that and I did it in past.

Re: How do i just 'improve'?
you just, like, improve
Re: How do i just 'improve'?
Anyway there is no such thing as "get to the always win part". That's the shittiest mindset you can have in games/sports. We are all guilty of that, especially natural talents but it's just a bad approach.
If you really want to win then you have to accept that you always have to strive to improve.
OP wants an easy answer to what it's not so easy, otherwise everyone would be winning. The closest to a simple answer is "just play a lot". And a lot means a lot. Realistically if you want to be better than others you have to play more than others. Once the effort and consistency are in place then you can think of optimizations. Playing just to play is not the best way to improve. Disrupt improvements come from disruptive changes in your play. You need to find out what you're doing wrong and fix it. This can space from mechanics to strats to anything in the game.

The definition of scrub (according to that article) is someone who:
1) Plays to win
2) Places unofficial regulations on themselves (and possibly their opponents)
Here's how I think you satisfy the definition
1) This is where you asked me for concrete evidence; I provided some non-concrete evidence, and you didn't really seem to contradict me anyway
2) You just straight up admitted that you could lame if you wanted to but you don't, so you seem to place unofficial regulations on yourself.
In my opinion you satisfy the definition.
last time i cryed was because i stood on Lego
Re: How do i just 'improve'?
I don't. The scrub places regulations such as native treasures are lame, etc. If I play to win I accept pretty much everything because I come prepared to it (e.g mirror).

So what you're saying garja is that since your winning streak in 2014 you haven't played to win and that's the reason you're not in the top 8 for lan?

Jerry plays to win with nat treasure.

No, scrub is basically when you can't win and you place limitations so that they work as excuses.
People confuse that with simply not try harding which is what you do when you played the games for 10 years and you're bit sick of playing the same 5 civs and strats over and over just to have 70%+ winrate on the ladder.

I think I stopped tryharding after like 2nd or 3rd ESOC tourney. Occasionally I try hard because you do get some satisfaction from winning streaks. Also sometimes I try hard to put some players in place

Too much bashing of big papa G in this thread
His attitude towards the game is, imo, a reasonably healthy competitive attitude (striving to improve and to set the bar as high as possible, without holding grudges against people he loses against) and, even though he gets mad and a bit at the game from time to time and he likes to blame the lag (which is often an actual issue in competitive play), he doesn't make silly excuses to justify a loss.
If you want to improve you need to have a bit of "Garja mindset" in you, you need to play to win (which is not a bad thing), otherwise, if you stick to playing simply for fun you will never get better.
Improvement = Grind, not just in games, in life as well. Big achievements don't come without big efforts.
