Is it so hard to force your opponent to throw?

How do you know when you've clearly lost?

cuz you're insulting their intelligence even if they don't have the intelligence to secure the victory

I really don’t follow. If they don’t have the intelligence to secure the victory, then they deserve to lose, right?

The only good thing about this thread is the title.

I mean they do have it of course, since they had the intelligence to get an advantage. In this scenario they wouldn't have it in that particular game, meaning they would make some game losing mistakes later on.

But they key here is that, as their opponent, you don't know this. And by continuing play, you are telling them you believe they have the capacity to fuck up and throw the game. Even if that's true, your assuming it is the insulting part.

why not just win the game and prove your opponent wrong instead of caring whether his actions may or may not insult you

@pecelot i just think maybe aoe and go aren’t super comparable unless you’re comparing kaiser to iamturk, in which case yes, iamturk is definitely making a fool of kaiser :hehe:

Who chooses what they do and don't care about?

Is this really that complicated of a concept? You guys have never been in a situation where a player wasted your time because they refused to resign? You don't think that's inconsiderate?

Honestly it's a massive problem if you play against a lower ranked player sometimes they just sit off the coast with off shore support and refuse to resign.

probably not. i mean even if somebody hid spies i would feel more annoyed than insulted, and anyways the emotion wouldn’t last very long after the game. if it was someone better than me who did something like that, then that might even be something to brag about!

Not really. Vide: Cometk's answer, also it's easy to finish off and already dead opponent if you don't get annoyed at first — which seems to be the key.

Moreover, referring to your previous post: I assumed only competitive play was on the table because it was the only common denominator worth discussing. Everyone has their own concept of fun and subsequently playing for fun.

@Cometk @pecelot Ok so you don't think it's inconsiderate. But do you understand why other people might?

I do. People can get annoyed or offended for multiple reasons, myself included, therefore I often restrain from stalling games I'm quite sure will end up in me being defeated.

very sure win. nothing wrong with Otto late-game when you’ve economically outscaled your opponent and are 100 points ahead. all it would take is some patience. wish i were there to coach callen x)

i think it’s somewhat context dependent, but for random ladder matches i might understand why you wouldn’t want to play against the same guy again if he’s going to drag out every match
