1. If you ever played the Single Player campaign of Age of Empires 3 and The Warchiefs expansion (If you really did), you would have noticed that this is a spin off of a fictional/inspired generation of the Black family. The story-line goes like this... Morgan Black, the guy who discovers the truth of Circle of Ossus, destroys the Fountain of Youth in Florida and kills his greedy commander, has 2 kids, one of which has a kid John Black, grandson of Morgan Black and nephew of Stuart Black. This John guy becomes mercenary and makes the Iroquois guy Kanyenke as his lieutenant (for the sake of meeting his sister Nonakhee), they beat another Circle of Ossus dude Warwick with the help of the French and George Fucking Washington. John accidentally presses the button which activates nuclear bomb thinking it is a coffee maker and dies. Now that guy, which guy? Yes, that guy, John has a iroquois boi Nathaniel Black who screws up Iroquois Confederacy and fights for the American revolution with colonial militia and of course with George Fucking Washington. His daughter Amelia Black, some rich industrialist, meh, beats Beaumont, the french idiot who now controls Circle of Ossus, making the score as Black Family 3 - 0 Circle of Ossus. Her son Chayton Black screws up his job and fights for Sioux and their lands and the story ends. Morgan Black plays a cameo now and then. The point i wanted say here is every member of the Black family is featured except Philip Black, the father of John Black (yes, he exists according to the storyline) who could have got himself a campaign story related to Aztecs since there are campaign stories already featuring the Iroquois and the Sioux. But you know what? No one gives a shit about the single player campaign. Do they?

2. A blockhouse can play 3 roles in the game as a barracks, an outpost and a half-house. For other civilizations, these 3 buildings are worth 500 :wood: compared to the 250 :wood: cost of a blockhouse. But however, the hitpoints of the blockhouse is significantly less, 500 hitpoints lesser than a barracks.

3. What if every civ in AoE 3 had a wonder to build to bring back the game modes like Defend the wonder and Wonder Race from AoE 2?

4. If you enter into the Hotkey settings in the RE patch of the game and click on Barracks Hotkeys and scroll down the commands to the end, you can see these commands 'Urmi Swordsman' and 'Multiple Urmi Swordsmen'. This is probably not a bug or mistake, we can theorize that the developers wanted urmis in the Indian barracks and then they decided to convert it as a homecity card due to its overpowered abilities. In fact, the cost of an Urmi is 160 :food: and 60 :coin: unlike 280 :food: cost of a Spahi, So we can come to a conclusion. But however, It has been replaced with Gurkhas. If you ever wondered why there's no 'Gurkha' or 'Multiple Gurkhas' hotkey command in the RE, there you go, Gurkhas have been replaced with Urmis in the Indian Barracks, The developers forgot to change it. If you assign a hotkey for the Urmi Swordsman, you assign it for Gurkha.

5. This game is 12 years old ( pointing from the TAD expansion from 2007) but people still play 1v1 gp and 3v3 deccan.

6. French is probably the easiest and standard-ish civ to understand the game and the meta and AoE 3 is one of the few places where the French actually 'won' wars :hehe: .

7. Ottomans' Barracks have only one unit to make lol.

8. The developer of the Age of Empires franchise, Ensemble Studios is defunct from the year 2009 after their last project Halo Wars. Due to the fact that the employees of the company left and started their own companies and also that the RTS games don't make much money as other franchises do. But still the game is alive, the Ensemble Studios Online website (not esoc) is still active for our good. Relic Entertainment is currently working on the AoE 4 title, they were the creators of the popular Company of Heroes franchise but we don't know whether their Age of Empires version will live up to the name of Ensemble Studios version of the game. Just hope for the good.

9. Is it only me or There are no Easter Eggs in the franchise?

10. How the fuck can animals from the treasure attack ranged buildings when they literally have no siege damage? What they can eat the building or something?

I wanted to make more of these but eh, i'll stop it there. Feel free to leave your opinions about this and your random thoughts on the game. Thank you for the time!

I guess they felt like forcing a connection to a native tribe that has been dead for 300 years at that point and is half a continent away was a bit too much. Also Azzys are already starring in China and Morgan Campaign.

Also: Who needs sth else if you have Jans :ugly:

And there are definitely eastereggs, there is that random island in the tutorial, some of the cheats etc.

There are several problems with the Black Family timeline:

The Great Siege of Malta took place in 1565. An unrelated Ottoman attack by a small force of a 1000 janissaries either before that or later would be ridiculous.
The fictional middle-aged Francisco Delgado, according to the description, served under Pedro de Alvarado, who died in 1541. Fair enough. 1560s
However, if an Aztec Army came from Tenochtitlan to the rescue, the year must have been earlier than 1521, when the city was destroyed and the Aztecs defeated. And in 1521 the sort of forces that Delgado commands would be idiots not to try to directly aid Cortes instead of fighting predominantly Spanish-speaking, catholic crusaders---of all people.
The chapter master and a major Hospitaller officer being English and Scottish respectably is very weird. In 1565, IIRC, there were exactly two English-speaking, low ranked knights in the chapter.

And anyway, the sons of Morgan Black apparently did not speak fondly of the Fountain of Youth to the next generation, despite the fact that John Black's act took place in the 1760s, 200 years after his grandfather's act.

Oh, and John Black died during the 7-Year War, that is, pre-1763, while his daughter looked ca. 25 in ca. 1825. (Bolivar died in 1830) Afterwards, her son fought in the battle of Little Big Horn in 1876, 50 years later, begging the question when was he born.

Hmm

Despite that, I just love the Act1 story for a thousand of reasons, including the characters, the factions, the amazing choice of a protagonist faction and their goal. I would love to see an ambitious 2010s version of it, with the knights having historically accurate religious moral doubts about such water, a tie-in to the Holy Grail, accurate languages of the soldiers, a moral conflict about helping "the savages" against catholic Europeans etc. This would ground the story historically even more

This is also why Gurkha regenerate hitpoints and have a unique tag in the game files. Gurkha were supposed to be the unique unit you send from the home city.

Meh, the cheats aren't really eastereggs. It is what they did with every game like the cobra car from AoE 2..... 'how do you turn this on' is just a random phrase imo, So is 'tuck tuck tuck'. They should be having something like that is related to developers, a secret military unit in the game that can be made when we trigger something or some hidden message inside the game. That would be cool. Like the Taunt 15, something that credits the previous games they made or about the developers itself.

With cheats or the scenario editor you can spawn ice cream trucks and George Washington statues (called George Crushington) with insane stats.

Excluding villagers, there are only 5 female characters in AOE3, only 3 of which are playable.
Lizzie, Nonahkee, Amelia, Queen Elizabeth and Isabella.

11. Aztecs never used firearms in their history and hence Macehualtins throw stones using a sling to act like weak skirmishers to compensate with other civs. Interesting aspect. Even their Warhuts and Noble's Huts shoot arrows but it is the same thing for other Warchief civs. There is one aspect which is not applicable to the Aztecs. It is the defensive fire of the Town Center when your villagers are garrisoned. Aztec TC fire shoots with a firearm like other civs instead of shooting arrows. Missed out detail. The Spanish could be hiding inside? :P

12. Idk why but the tent near Trading Posts on Asian maps has a symbol which looks like a QR code. Maybe or maybe not.

13. Uhlans could have been 1 pop to solve the german housing problem, Since they almost cost same as cossacks (150 resources). But yeah, it won't make any sense and might break the game (could be an ultimate buff) because an infantry unit like the Abus cost the same 50 :food: 100 :coin: and take 2 pop. They're too fat.

14. Strelets sound like singing when they are moved, Maybe singing aloud is their last wish because they know that they're gonna die so soon?

15. In my opinion, These 3 units' accent is really funny: The french female vill(from treasure), The japanese fishing boat and the treasure guardians who have a terrible spanish accent(when converted using a warchief).

I'd call the entire fucking campaign a problem.
