It's situational. Mams are better vs skirm/goon as they are faster and tank more, which means they'll get to snare forever, and also better vs hand cav. Elmetis are better vs compositions with HI, for example vs china or japs, who donlt have goons.
How do you actually deal with lancers or Elmeti as Japan or China?
In Industrial Age? Forbidden Army is your best bet. In Fortress, it's completely impossible, outside of Manchus.
Well fortress, i got stomped by jesus yesterday by lancers, so was just wondering.
You should watch my game against Mitoe on New England as China against Spain. Mass lancer really shouldn't work.
I feel that we shouldn’t ignore the fact that I aged with a useless caravel and lost 400w in crates and then my tower and stable for free, and then fought your army right next to your Frigate before reaching a decent mass of units.
Normally I agree that China’s “weakness to cav” is a myth, but I’m not 100% certain that Lancer/Goon with a few rods truly does that badly vs China. It probably doesn’t work but I don’t think that game was indicative of anything. None of the games from our 2nd series were probably.

Apart from the fact that I somewhat dislike chuko/pike, the seminole buff adresses base dmg, which is far lower for chukonu (+3.75) than for iron troops (+6.25). Given Old Han Reforms, the +25% buff becomes relatively small.
Does that also take into account the fact the ckn fires 3 bolts every round?
Yes, I included that. Each arrow does 5 * 1.25 = 6.25 dmg which is an additional 1.25 dmg. Multiplied by three for the number of arrows yields +3.75dmg.
Whatever is written above: this is no financial advice.

do you know if the seminole buff works for all the units it should? I went full ceta bow once with sioux and the seminole buff did not appear to change the stats on carolina, maybe it is because they were champion already, and the base damage was barely impacted, but I'm not sure
I did not try it out, but in general the buff should affect all units with the "archer" tag. The wiki lists the following units which should all have this tag and be buffed: lbow/xbow/mace/arrow knight/eagle runner/aenna/cetan/bow rider/chuko/iron troop/keshik/yumi/yabusame.
Now that I see that keshiks are boosted too, I look forward for my next China game on Carolina with full Keshik/Iron Troop spam. Gonna be completely OP with my keshiks.

It actually also affects the japan monks as well, along with the units listed above. Its exttremely broken with yumi. It doesnt affect hp so maybe you were lpoking at the hp of your cetan?
