Should Ottoman be able to train spahi?

Post by aqwer »

It is very frustrating that Ottoman can't train their special unit "spahi" but all other civs can e.g. dog soldier for Sioux, cuir for French, mahot lancer for India and urumi infinite shipment, skull knight for Aztec.
It would make their late game a bit fun which is so bad right now.
Comments plz.

P.S. ofc you can remove auto upgrade, heal abilities and adjust the cost by stats.

So basically you want to remove all that is unique for the unit right now and instead make it a reskinned huss? If anything an infinite shipment would be kinda nice i guess, now that we are basically changing everything anyways. But i think it is just fine, how often do you actually exhaust your Spahi Shipments to begin with.

Maybe with Dance Hall (instead of ronin) and with a cost of 400c like the Jat lancers and Yojimbo. That way they are not so worth it.
Doesn't seem to be a priority though.

That would be changing the game too much IMO. Changing stats for balance I can get, but adding trainable units isnt even a patch, its just a mod.

Ep is already approaching to a mod anyways and it's not a new unit, it's already there

Really, you mean that ? No one can put all spahi cards in deck, too much slots. That's where infinite shipment comes.

Good idea though but I have to say not worth it for Otto bcz shipment xp cost too much late game, whereas India has sacred field to exactly for this purpose.

Yeah i mean that, in how many games would you actually send more than maybe 5 spahis in age 3 and 6 in age 4? Most of the time you end games in age 3 and mams > spahi or if you reach age IV its revo build and you would rather send Huss prolly or max 1 spahi shipment.

With ep meta shifting towards late game, we see a lot of game with age IV +. Especially team games are more prone to go IV and even V. Spahi would be nice for some compositions.

Then an infinite shipment is still far more elegant. Just give them 5 Infinite Spahi Age 4 for 1000f and you are fine.

Yes that can be a weak alternative.

I think they should train Mamelukes on Stable and Giant Bombards for 400c + 100w from Artillery instead of Falconets.

Spahi should just come from the HC.
I'd make infinite 4 spahi for 1000f in age4. 5 would be too strong since they autotech and probably they will get 20% RR soon. It's not like otto is lacking good IV unit shipments anyway. 12 abus, 2 great bombards, 8 huss, 3 falcs, 9 cav archers, 6 spahi etc.

It's specifically intended to be a unique unit, available only from the home city. It's in the description. It should be less unviable, though!

Shhhhh. the point of this is to cause the dev ego to be hurt and to make this change just to show how easy it would be for him
