Retiring from competitive games

  • Quote

Post by deleted_user0 »

It has been on my mind since the middle of EPL but I kept fighting for our team.

Yesterday was a perfect example of what happens when I green-up completely unprepared and without analyzing possible maps and matchups. I have never been very talented at this game. Not far from 10k games and still terrible mechanics. Only a good gameplan and strategies have saved me. And India with Taj Mahal.

I feel tournaments have become a burden to me. I haven't been enjoying the game for a while and rather practicing for the EPL. However, I do not want to participate in tourneys without a decent chance of winning which requires a lot of effort and sacrifices from real life.

I always wanted to win a cup/tournament which never happened. The best achievements/games have been:
-Pilgrim runner up (0-3 vs knusch)
-New year's classic semi-final (3-4 vs hazz)
-Mono-civ runner up (2-3 vs mitoe)
-Failed comeback vs knusch EPL final (4-3) : (

I'm not saying I'm going to uninstall my game. But I'll probably become umeu v2 only playing for fun. Playing hours are likely to drop.

Thanks ESOC for all the wonderful events.

PS. If you're looking for a manager in EPL season 2, drop me a message :)

i can understand u completly except for the „i dont want to play tourney without a decent chance“. it always seemed like a miracle to me why some people fear losing so much rather than enjoying a tourney stage :/

I really like your playing style, was never good at micro myself and I can understand the feeling, although I was never as good as you are. I feel aoe3 can make you feel really bad if you (even if just subjectively) suck. That can actually put you down generally.

Also, the game is frankly a massive time sink.

Anyway, for my and other viewers' sake I hope (and am pretty sure) you'll stay active. You're a really good player and fun to watch. For your own sake (time, energy, emotions) I kinda wish you to minimize your time playing.

you are about to embark on the path of wisdom and happiness that I have taken of late in the AOE universe. I am much happier with AOE these days, and taking the game less seriously! No happiness can come from making competitive success your focus in this game if any. You've made the right choice! Playing this game for the sake of APM, knowledge of and skill at manipulating stupid technical gimmicky details was never how the devs (all praise be upon them and on Lord Shelley most high) intended this game to be enjoyed. Fuck it I'ma just come right out and say its not how god wanted it to be enjoyed. And by god I mean ryzon
