AoE3:DE
AoE3:DE
Given that Microsoft seems committed to publish AoE3:DE and that it is more likely to happen before AoE4, what do you guys think could be an interesting additional content for AoE3:DE? Which changes do you expect/wish to the existing material? Do we know whether user content such as fan patches are going to be taken into account?
I could imagine that they add campaign material and two/three new civilizations as they did for aoe2:de. My personal favourite would be a the addition of Sweden/Poland/Hungary and campaigns that take place in eastern Europe. There have been frequent wars including these three civilizations, such as the Ottoman expansion into Hungary, the devastating Swedish Deluge which destroyed half of Poland/Lithuania, the Muscovite/Russian expansion towards the west, and, of course, the Thirty Years War with Sweden as one of the great powers of the time.
edit: did we already have a thread? I was somehow unable to find something....

Be as it may, the thread's deader than my slavic grandfather.edeholland wrote:This thread has some answers: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12007
Now, as for suggestions, would be wonderful if they finally released Italy and Sweden, given how those two actually have proper voicelines in AOE3 already

True, Italy might be more interesting than Hungary as well.ShinkuroYukinari wrote:Be as it may, the thread's deader than my slavic grandfather.edeholland wrote:This thread has some answers: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12007

I also still dream somewhat from a distinction between Germany and Austria-Hungary, but I guess that is not going to happen.

If new civs I would like to see 1 euro, 1 Asian, 1 native. Could be something like korea, African tribes, colonial America
new civs are going to be the only thing to really get me interested in it.

Re: AoE3:DE
Regarding new civs, I think that the scope of AoE3 should be different than the one of AoE2. While AoE2 can include smaller kingdoms more easily, the concept of AoE3 seems to be rather focussed on great powers and colonial empires.
The time frame ~1500-1870 does not really include Africa, since the continent was neither colonized during the time nor did great powers or empires arise. But maybe I just don't know enough about African history.
Colonial America could be expanded by Maya or Inca. On the other hand, I thoroughly dislike the Warchiefs civs and do not hope for an expansion going into that direction.
Asia and Europe are the only continents in the time frame where new civs would make sense to me. Notably missing in Asia would be Persia and maybe Siam. In Europe, there would be Sweden, Poland and Austria who were notable great powers during the time frame.

Only that it’s planned to launch mid-2020 according to a guy who talked to Microsoft developers at X019.Rikikipu wrote:Have we got more info about AOE3DE recently ?
