Just dont buy a laptop to play aoe3....
You will have more pleassure with a desk

But if you really annoyed from your GF when u have to share the screen with her, get a other Screen...
Honestly my laptop is from 2014 and was 500€ i played 2-3 years for almost every day on it aoe3 befor it started to get broken ( i renewed things but still cant use it for aoe3 anymore)
The most important things is to have not a GPU on board also pls get an intel. AMD are going hot and at the end of the day you will pay the same bc you might need a other vent or put a vent under plus it takes more electricitie.

That seems contradictory to the posts above, which seemed in favour of a dedicated video card.

I think I will just buy a low end new gaming laptop, like gibson suggested. That also allows me to play while travelling, and I don't have the desk space to set up a second desktop.

Get a lower end gaming laptop and still upgrade that desk as you will want to game on desk with laptop anyway. Its really nice to get a new big desk.

Adding an extra desk would mess up my interior, the current desk is built into the wall :)

Based on the recommended specs for the game, the specs you want for aoe3:
1) Quad core cpu or better
2) 8gb ram or more
3) SSD > 256gb, so you can load into games quicker
4) Dedicated video adapter (integrated graphics dont like aoe3 :( )
