What will the definitive edition be?
Forgive me if such an idea has already been discussed like this, I don't have time to follow the General section as obesessively as I do off-topic. I'm curious as to what people are expecting from the so-called "definitive" edition

this is most certainly not possibleBalance is changed in a way that makes ESOC happy

Since you're dev team you should give me an option to open up betting and give different odds to each poll optionmusketeer925 wrote:this is most certainly not possibleBalance is changed in a way that makes ESOC happy

is that not basically a poll trying to predict the results of a poll?fightinfrenchman wrote:Since you're dev team you should give me an option to open up betting and give different odds to each poll optionmusketeer925 wrote:this is most certainly not possibleBalance is changed in a way that makes ESOC happy

You should allow voting on more than one option.

That would require me to know how to change a poll that's already postedn0el wrote:You should allow voting on more than one option.

ESOC doesn't have any intellectual property, bar the logo and art. And even the logo itself is borderline illegal. All maps/scenarios created are owned by Microsoft.bobabu wrote:I wonder if Esoc is sharing their intellectual property with Microsoft. I think it’s more likely that whoever the studio designing the game is makes their own maps rather than adopts the EP maps.

Re: What will the definitive edition be?
Actually, the "III" logo is part of the "Fan site kit", previously available here, intentionally provided for fan sites to use on their site: http://agecommunity.com/all_downloads.aspxMr_Bramboy wrote:And even the logo itself is borderline illegal.
I have a copy of the kit, but it's too big to upload here. It doesn't include any kind of license, though, which is a little strange.Ambitious webmasters eager to advance to the "next Age" now have a generous stockpile of resources to help them get there. Ensemble Studios today released a new Fan Site Kit for Age of Empires III, the upcoming landmark real-time strategy game from Ensemble and Microsoft Game Studios. The new kit provides webmasters with a treasure trove of screenshots, high-resolution artwork, logos, parts of the user interface and even music from the upcoming game.

What I care more about is not new civs/map and gameplay changes , but bringing many new players to the game(which I doubt will happend).

The biggest barrier at its launch (and hence) has been the "play to win" card unlocking/homecity leveling mechanic.giannisKING wrote:What I care more about is not new civs/map and gameplay changes , but bringing many new players to the game(which I doubt will happend).
If this is addressed I expect new players to treat themselves to a delighting RTS unlike any on the market.

People were satisfied with most EP versions. The EP7 is a bit of an exception.musketeer925 wrote:this is most certainly not possibleBalance is changed in a way that makes ESOC happy

Re: What will the definitive edition be?
Idk I think EP 7 is better than EP 6 tbh, and that's a statement that is (((seemingly))) separate me meeting the balancer in person. Certain exceptions exist but idk how to deal with them without way more time and resources (sioux). You hated EP6, man. But now it's OK because there's a more exciting patch out to hate more. You're a sheep?
I think all EPs > RE. So if the devs choose anything from ESOC to act as base balance I'll be content. And I have a hunch they'll do just that.

Not jast that, developers and designer team should reconsidered all reasons that made TAD not that popular and act accordingly, whatever the result may be.deleted_user wrote:The biggest barrier at its launch (and hence) has been the "play to win" card unlocking/homecity leveling mechanic.giannisKING wrote:What I care more about is not new civs/map and gameplay changes , but bringing many new players to the game(which I doubt will happend).

Re: What will the definitive edition be?
As a matter of fact there has been a recent surge - often tallying around 2k users - on the ESO servers. Sadly this spike in activity is not reflected on the (only relevant) community webpage. I have lamented this before and I simply can't comprehend why ESOC won't adopt a broadchurch attitude to the game in regards to the fan- vs RE patch.giannisKING wrote:What I care more about is not new civs/map and gameplay changes , but bringing many new players to the game(which I doubt will happend).

I don't think it's any sort of deep seated resentment, moreso the ppl aren't familiar with these numbers, and already have a lot on their plate as volunteer members of a website about to host a relatively very large tournament already behind schedule. Just playing devil's advocate...bepsi wrote:As a matter of fact there has been a recent surge - often tallying around 2k users - on the ESO servers. Imagine every man-hour gone into this website over 5 years (reminder: it self-resurrected the community). Imagine every single minute of it is self-volunteered.
Soon a set of multi-paragraph bios for the ~20 pro players will be released for free of charge four years after this website was created and also without any monitory payoff to contributors. Izz just izz. I say leave it to Microsoft to increase player numbers.
The EP patch literally makes little changes to balance the whole.

I hated the first version of EP6 which was even worse than EP7, but eventually it changed into a normal patch I hardly criticized.

Re: What will the definitive edition be?
I have talked with a lot of people irl about this game and the majority knows it and has played in the (very) past, however it didn't seemed to be apealing. Most people who buy this game on steam sales play it for 2-3 games and never try it again, and let's be honest, AOE3 gameplay is sort of repuslive at beginner level.bepsi wrote:As a matter of fact there has been a recent surge - often tallying around 2k users - on the ESO servers.
