Already talked to my friend Paulo to sign up, I'll make sure to tell you as soon as he gets it.
Re: Age III: DE Beta sessions starting in early February
It wasn't that hard for me to sign up. I think already having a microsoft account made it much easier.

For closed betas like this, I think typically companies like to spread out access to represent all members of their target audience.Mr_Bramboy wrote:The invites will go to the hordes of aoe2 players so they can complain how the aoe3:de isn't enough aoe2.Riotcoke wrote:Can't wait for Paulo from brasil who's never played the game to get an invite and not me
In the case of AoE3:DE, I'd expect they'll want a few competitive players and community leaders, but they'll also want people entirely new to RTS, people who enjoy single player against the AI, people who play campaigns, people who play 3 hour FFAs, and so on.
For the game to do well commercially, it needs to appeal to a variety of audiences, not just competitive players. The beta is a way to test that. So if Paulo from Brasil who never played an RTS is complaining about how hard it is to tell units apart, how he doesn't know what that slowly filling green bar with the number next to the flag means, or how mercenaries suck because they cost coin while other shipments are free, then that's valuable feedback for the game designers helping them make the game more accessible.
The same goes for the hordes of AoE2 players - it's a large and easy to reach audience, so getting feedback on ways to make the game attractive to them and removing major stumbling blocks (looking at you, home city leveling) for players with that background might make sense for the game creators.

You have to agree to an NDA to even join the insider program.

Ya if I remember correctly in the aoe2 beta you werent allowed to stream it until they said it was ok. I think they cause it was ok to stream it around 1 week before it was released to the public.

There were loads of people who broke the NDA and started streaming AoE2:DE prematurely. Not sure if they couldn't read or didn't care.
Re: Age III: DE Beta sessions starting in early February
NDA was lifted week before launch and i cannot name any channel i know who was streaming before that. Ofc there is always those chinese videos on youtube.edeholland wrote:There were loads of people who broke the NDA and started streaming AoE2:DE prematurely. that's barely anything. I guess the RAM requirement is a bit tough but considering that AOE2DE literally took up 8 gigs of ram and fully consumed a single cpu thread.... this is good

Unless they were streaming during the specific streaming week at the end of the beta, they all would have had their access revoked as soon as their content was reported to MS.edeholland wrote:There were loads of people who broke the NDA and started streaming AoE2:DE prematurely. Re: Age III: DE Beta sessions starting in early February
AoE3 is a 3D game, so of course it is gonna be much easier on the hardware requirement front than AoE2:DE, which doesn't benefit that much from 3D acceleration, the strength of today's GPUs. AFter upping the graphical fidelity of AoE2, it stresses the hardawre in a way that it wasn't meant to cope too well with. Fully 3D Games are way easier to handle/remake.harcha wrote:that's barely anything. Some developer on AoE:2DE said this some weeks ago.

Yep, I reported quite a lot of them to [email protected]. Most of the time their Twitch VODS and YouTube videos got taken down within hours.robo wrote:Unless they were streaming during the specific streaming week at the end of the beta, they all would have had their access revoked as soon as their content was reported to MS.edeholland wrote:There were loads of people who broke the NDA and started streaming AoE2:DE prematurely.
