Fast Game Speed Tournament
Can we host a one day fast speed tourney already? It's like the most obvious one day format and I think it would be fun for the players and viewers.
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
AoE3’s fast speed setting fluctuates based on PC performance so it kinda sucks
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
Would rather deathmatch it. That is the true fast speed tournament

Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
I still think it should be done. But without prize money at first, to see how viable it is for an actual tournament.
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
that means the better my pc the faster i need to play?
is it possible to slow this by making graphics super hd?

i hosted a game vs floko with amsterda as observer and the game speed was constantly creating lag-spikes (safe to say we all had good pcs and internet)

Would like to see a Colonial start tourny
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
This would honestly be so interesting with tons of new strategies, I wonder why nobody has done this by now.Interjection wrote:Would like to see a Colonial start tourny

could be better if we have randomised starting location so you can end up with rushy games as well.deleted_user wrote:That's basically treaty and games will last hoursharcha wrote:i would rather see a nomad big maps tourney

Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
Probably because you can throw away all the balancing we have done over the years. I don't think asian civs will be viable at all because they will be missing a wonder. Native civs will also be missing their advantage from aging up quickly. Ports won't have a second town center so they are probably the most useless. Germany is probably top civ again, the free uhlans are huge early on.ChewSick wrote:This would honestly be so interesting with tons of new strategies, I wonder why nobody has done this by now.Interjection wrote:Would like to see a Colonial start tourny
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
not everyone likes to 5hus semi ff every game, if that's what you mean with "balancing".edeholland wrote:Probably because you can throw away all the balancing we have done over the years.
Honestly take nilla, make hunts a bit better and you got a better balancing than EP ever was.

Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
I think the balance in general would hold up except for the early XP mechanics and nerfs, these would play a bigger role.
But I am more for the fast tournament! Casting could prove to be an issue tho.

Nah, Otto is too strong and Port is shit on no ATP maps.ChewSick wrote:not everyone likes to 5hus semi ff every game, if that's what you mean with "balancing".edeholland wrote:Probably because you can throw away all the balancing we have done over the years.

I agree that the nilla balance is overall better than the TAD balance (maps are strictly worse however) but that's because there are less civs and there were more patches.

Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
What kind of comparison is that? Nilla AoE3 is basically a different game.ChewSick wrote:Honestly take nilla, make hunts a bit better and you got a better balancing than EP ever was.
I'm also not sure how this is an argument for a colonial start tournament. I think there will be less viable strategies/civs than in EP.
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
You started with it lol. This is a post about a fun tournaments (that aren't supposed to be completely balanced), and you say throw "years of balancing" over board. Was the pilgrim tournament balanced, when everyone started with additional settlers? It didn't have to be, it was just fun to watch different playstyles. It's also not supposed to have MORE viable strats, but different ones from regular play.edeholland wrote:I'm also not sure how this is an argument for a colonial start tournament. I just used the "years of balancing" as a rant because I don't like the balancing system on EP. You destroyed colonial play, but everybody seems to like it so it's fine.
Re: Fast Game Speed Tournament
Nilla (with a few balance changes and new maps) is imo much, much better than EP for tournaments and competitive play due to its balance and greater focus on mechanics and finely-tuned strategy. However, EP, with its additional civs and mechanics is the more fun game for less competitive players.
