Im not sure how similar portugeese is to spanish. But it really annoys me how in aoe3, to me they sound The same. But all The portugeese ones just sound like a much more annoying person.

They are very similar, but they have some pronuciation and writing differences. Its very easy for a spanish native speaker to learn portuguese and viceversa.

The Aztecs take the cherry on the cake: their language doesn't even exist. Aztec units speak an unknown variant of Nahuatl. It seems probable that the developers just took bits of Nahuatl they could find without verifying the source or time period.
Why do you think that?

Heh, that was just a copypasta from the AOE3 wiki, so yeah other people probably deserve it more.

In other news, the WIKI is full of LIES!
The scientific term for China creating free units is Mitoe-sis.

In modern language portuguese sounds like a lovechild of spanish and russian. The first couple of times I heard portuguese I was rather confused.

Most of the languages don't make any sense. If you've ever read anything original copy from Charles Dickens then that's how English would look like in this time period. It was a lot more comprehensible than what's in the game.
Dickens lived in the 19th century. I think even the 18th century is the later part of the game's timeline. Take a look at when the civ's leaders ruled. The British leader in AoE3 is Elizabeth I, who reigned 1558 - 1603, mostly the 16th century. Shakespeare was a contemporary.

AoE3 leader's reigns, for reference:
  • British: Elizabeth I, 1558 - 1603
  • Spanish: Isabella I, 1474 - 1504
  • French: Napoleon, 1804 - 1815
  • Portuguese: Henry, 1394 - 1460 (lifetime, no "reign")
  • Russians: Ivan, 1547 - 1575
  • Germans: Frederick, 1740 - 1786
  • Ottomans: Suleiman, 1520 - 1566
  • Dutch: Maurice, 1618 - 1625
  • Indians: Akbar, 1556 - 1605
  • Chinese: Kangxi, 1661 - 1722
  • Japanese: Tokugawa, 1603 - 1616
  • Sioux: Gall, 1840 - 1894 (lifetime, no "reign")
  • Aztecs: Cuauhtemoc, 1520 - 1521
  • Iroquois: Hiawatha, 1550ish?

Brit lines are pretty tame:
British
General
Laiyon! (Attack!)
Assail! (Attack!)
Hail? (Yes)
Yes!
Commendement (What is it)
Ready!
Iwoll (I will)
Imeanaso (I mean so)
Settler
Pocastare (Mining and plantations)
Humta (Hunter)
Forestare (Woodcutting)
Gathera (Berry Gathering)

His original name Friedrich II. sounds so much better than the english Frederick tbh. His nickname is der "Alte Fritz".

Oh and it's nice how my first two languages I ever learned are spoken perfectly in modern times as well as in aoe3, german and turkish!

Let us just just be happy then they choose "Hochdeutsch" as the language for the germans (no accents) instead of some prussian or pommersche accent haha
