It's true it's not really serious but kinda just asking a question and having fun at the same time.

Well to make a great joke you gotta act like you're serious otherwise it fails.Cocaine wrote:Nobody here thought you're joking. I think this needs to enacted immediately. ESOC has the resources to make it happen.

Interesting proposal!
However, it completely overlooks the current drug meta. Most top players use only natural drugs to enhance and sometimes butcher their skill if overdosed. Mainly disappointment, anger and arrogance. They even appear to be able to control the quantity of those, that's how far we've come.

I only play at a decent level if I can focus the fuck up. I've never taken amphetamines, don't condone recreational drug use to readers, but I wonder how something like adderal would affect play.

The only drug I played on was weed and it made me lose at least 10 PR

Don't take this drug unless prescribed though.

I think the community and prize pool are all just too small at this moment to really make a difference. If people were competing for tens of thousands of dollars, then yeah we should probably find a way to drug test, but right now there's no reason to and honestly who cares?

It’s also not quite as simple as people may think. Some large tournaments in other games might not have it listed in the tournament rules. Also say it is banned in a tournament. But there is a player who has a prescription for the medication and he has been on it for nearly his whole life. Is that ok? Or does that 1 player now have an advantage? Say there is another player in the tournament who has never had a prescription for it but 1 month before the tournament begins he goes to his doctor and says he is having trouble concentrating and his doctor prescribes him the medication. (Just like thousands of college students attempt to do, to help them with their studies). The doctor gives him the prescription, does this player now have an unfair advantage? Or is he just taking his medication for his personal health?

imo if those medications help the player so much their skills improve then I doubt they really had ADD or ADHD to begin with. Those meds are just to help those people live normal lives.giveuanxiety wrote:It’s also not quite as simple as people may think. Not sure how true that arguement is or if ADHD is a real condition but since you're in the medical field I think you have better insight.

I’m a nurse but with that said I don’t work primarily with psych patients or patients that are on those medications. However I think there is a pretty big grey area when it comes to these medications. With most health issues that require long term medication, healthcare employees can basically draw a patients blood and see that the patient is physically low in the amount of potassium the patient has in his blood work. A doctor may then prescribe a certain amount of potassium medication to take daily. With these adhd drugs there is no lab work to really look at to prove a patient is deficient in this area. It’s more like hey I’m having trouble concentrating, or hey my kid won’t stop running around and being active. Ohh ok you must have adhd then, here’s a prescription.

Re: Suggestion for Tournament integrity
Some people may need these medications however. Doctors may also prescribe these medications to kids, however a side effect of the drug is small appetite which can result in weight loss or slower development in kids. So doctors suggest having the kids on the medication during the school year but then taking them off of the medication during the summer so they can gain weight appropriately and not slow down their growth rates. So basically there is lots of grey area with these medications.

In principle if you are taking a drug thats going to boost your performance I think that should actually be illegal to compete with. I think.
