A nubs road to Treaty rank Lieutenant
A nubs road to Treaty rank Lieutenant
After getting inspired by the great @Cometk's Road to Colonel post, I decided to get off my lazy bum and do something with the little knowledge I had of the honorable game mode of treaty(more popularly known as NR). I am currently on pr11( I know, pretty bad) and so I decided to go all the way to pr25, which is 1st Lieutenant if I am correct. Moreover, after seeing CometK handicapping himself with just one civ, I decided I must do something of equal calibre, and so I decided I will use mostly, the first empire that spanned the globe, Spain on this road, and maybe once a blue moon Britain and another civ that I will get to soon. I have decided i shall accomplish this goal in 3v3 or 2v2 games, and mostly on nr55 or nr60 games in orinoco( nr40 in Andes is also fine). Without further ado, let us begin as I find myself in an NR60 game.
Game 1: I join a 3v3 game hosted by a France player, A Sergeant in Orinoco. It is an NR60 game, and so I get the standard cards, unction, and native upgrades(I have already told my teammates that I will native this match.) I get the boom rolling, but with Spains eco it just isnt cutting me enough slack. I reach Imperial by 20 minutes and max 99 villies. My teammates are the French host and the Germans, against Ports, Britain, and Aztecs. We wall up soon, with the German player walling the crossing and me the inner economy wall. I have just recently mastered the art of deleting pillars and so I flex my pillar less walls to no one in particular. I queue up my army after getting the natives from my allies; Lancers and Skirmishers with some Mortars thrown in to bust those 32k hp walls of the Aztecs. My score is 2.7k; hopefully its enough. Our armies get ready as the time nears the 60th minute mark; we wait.
As soon as it hits 60 minutes, we rush in. It's the version where there is only one crossing, and so everyone dukes it out in the single strip of land that will decide the fate of the match, and our PR's. I micro my missionaries; they are priority no.1 and so I group them using the number 1. I am up against the Aztec player; I know Azzies starting Army is nigh unbeatable having the 300+pop that it has, but I scoff at him as my fully unctioned, carded army of Lancers and skirmishers and natives skewer the Aztec army as they head in to their doom. I quickly push through, and my 1400 siege mortars quickly make short work of the tanky walls. I pump out more skirms to deal with the ERK's, and as I see my enemies score, I get even more encouraged to push; he seems to be draining. We sally back and forth, me losing some missionaries, him spawning his Warchief an endless amount of times. It's annoying how tanky that son of a ***** can get, he spins and everyone dies. Anyways, after a long gruelling fight and no result in the end, and after endless spamming of Natives, skirms, ERK's and Arrow knights as well as never ending wall destruction and rebuilding, the Aztec player resigns. Victory is inevitable after that as I quickly help my allies in sweeping the Ports and Brits. Game 1 of this crusade is a success.
PS: I will let the community decide which 3rd civilization I will pick for the campaign that I have undertaken. And no, I will not touch any of the OP civs( No France, China and Ports for me). Please leave the civilization u have chosen in the comments. Majority wins.

Game2: It goes badly. My ally Russia is a complete noob who has deck full of crates, and so is my ally ports, who cant even boom properly.Despite my very successful push, at first, they resign and so I lose my first time with spain in this journey.

Re: A nubs road to Treaty rank Lieutenant
Game 3: I host a 3v3 Andes nr45 match, and I decide to use Brits for this matchup, since playing too much spain makes life boring. Several players join in, we split the 2 lieutenants and sergeants and green in. My allies are China and the Germans, and we are up against Japan, Otto, and Russia. Me and my allies know the Russians would 100% cav box at the start, and so we plan for 10 layers of walls and generally walling every entrance into our eco. I cow boom, and even though I'm not that good at it, I hit a decent score of 2k at the end of the treaty. My hands hurt from mirroring my villies to every sheep and cow I train, but the wait is worth it as I hit up to 70k food at the end. My starting army consists of upgraded musk+huss and a couple of rockets. I get my villies ready for the FB, along with some in the natives for that sweet infantry training upgrade.
As the time ticks to 45 minutes, the war breaks out. I take the northern part of the map; I am up against Ottomans. Frankly, this should be an easy matchup for brits, and boy does it get shown. My musks and his Jan's trade well, and I eat through his cannons with my hussars. His jan+Abus combo is annoying however, and I get some longbows to deal with the Jan's. Also, the running the Jan's do is equally as annoying, I had to fight him off near the natives cliff as well. I manage to sneak in a fb near his base at the cliffs side, and start another front there. I pop some mortars to get his FB down, and we trade back and forth, but mostly me getting the advantage. After a couple of epic fights, my allies get a foothold. The Germans manage to penetrate the Japanese base through the sides, and my China ally(nub, did not cow boom) could at least hold off the Russian advance in the middle. Russia tried sending some opriboxes at the start but we scout it out, wall heavily, and manage to stop it several times. So, my ally Germany forces the Japanese player to resign; and the rest follow suit, awarding me another win.

Then technically, I should use a civ that seems handicapping, yet is secretly allowing me to stomp matches?? Any suggestions??

Re: A nubs road to Treaty rank Lieutenant
Update: YASSSS, I finally reached PR14 Sergeant, and what a relief and blessing it has been. I am feeling quite happy with myself, and even more with my Spain laming skill. So without further ado, the breakdown of the miracle match!!
My clan member leleo19 hosts an nr60 3v3 hm game in orinoco. He is a France Lamer, and so there is no "NO OP" tag. 2 lieuts join in, a sergeant, and a corporal. At this point I was also a corporal, and so we split the teams rather fairly. There are 2 Frances and 2 Japans on either team, and I am using Spain, while the other corporal picks Brits. And so we green in.
At first,I admit, my boom goes badly, event though I do the basic stuff, like collecting food, mining during transition. I get Idle TC time, and hit Age 5 with 99 villies at around 23 minutes into the game. I learned from previous matches and this time I ratio my food gold villies in around 40:30 ratio roughly, with the rest on wood, since Spain is Skirm/ Lancer heavy and those cost a lot of gold. Naturally, after getting the natives, my score hits around 2.8k after the 60 mins. Not bad. The Orinoco Crossing is divided into two this time, n my great Japan Ally(the experienced Lieutenant) walls both sides(pillarless) and bravely solos the southern part, telling the historic quote "France should fight France). And so me and France take the top part. Before the fight,my ally Japan uses that temporary free spy, and so I find I am up against the enemy Japan. France against France like he said, while our Japan fought the Brits. And so the fight begins, not before I lay down my fb, queue up 30 skirms and 15 lancers supported by the unctioned Missionaries.
At first I gain the upper hand at the start. My huge nats+starting army rolls over his army of ashigaru and morutarus. My mortars, boosted by the power of donkey riding priests, blasts his walls open. He sends in a couple of Naginatas to try to kill my mortars; I knew this and so I have already queued up goons to kill them off. They quickly fall to the pistols of my glorious Goons. He makes a lot of Yuumi and Ashigaru throughout the initial fight, which is a mistake. My Skirms make mincemeat out of those Infantry. I also manage to get his daimyo and shogun several times throughout the fight, though his flaming arrows do kill my mortars and a few of my missionaries. At first, I win the fight and push forward, however, it gets really tight near the walls and so my lancers and rods get blocked, along with the spearman nats.Meanwhile, my all France is losing to the Other France and our Japan has managed to push against the Brits, who keep spamming cav to his mass of infantry. It's only a matter of time, to see who would break first.
However, I realize I am draining faster than my enemy, who has at least 300 score lead against me(Shocking for Japan). Also, since my ally France is getting pushed, the enemy France sends a couple of Cuirs to help out time to time, which is really annoying as they try to kill my missionaries, But fail gloriously as the donkeys outrun the horses while baiting them towards the mass of goons that prominently decimate the cavalry. They seem to fail to realize; I have mastered the art of missionary handling. I actually am surprised when I see the scores; our France has a massive score lead compared to his counterpart yet he seemed to be losing. And so things look a bit bleary as the fight stagnates outside the walls of my enemy; yet a miracle happens!! Our ally Japan after pushing bravely through the British, snuck in the feared DAIMYO into the economic heartland of our enemies. Apparently they didnt wall well enough. And so my enemy calls GG first followed by the rest. The post game comments are funny; my enemy Japan insults his France ally, saying he didnt have nats in his deck despite being a lieutenant, and the British person making fun of my ally Japan. Well, idc in the end,I call gg well played and prominently see my rank now as Sergeant. What a milestone!!!

Attention, due to the recent treaty tourney hosted by @dicktator and @southsider, I have decided to temporarily halt this quest and partake in my first esoc tournament. I will obviously be using other civs as well, not only Spain during the tourney. Ranking will resume after the tournament.
