5 AM CDT -- both ESO and ageofempires.com are down again. Either the new MS techs are incompetent or, to give them some benefit of the doubt, perhaps they are being hacked.

Edit: OK, to give them some more "benefit of the doubt," they might have installed a new, upgraded server system and could be migrating the software to it (wouldn't that be nice).

Which part?

1. The MS techs that replaced Ryzon are new, inexperienced or just downright incompetent (perhaps MS farms out the server maintenance).

2. That MS is getting hacked. This actually happens to MS all the time to them, especially DDOS attacks, though why anyone would bother with a gaming site is beyond me (or perhaps not, as Ive seen at least one disgruntled banned cheater on Youtube telling people how to hack the game).

3. That they are migrating the system to a new server. They actually did this once before a few years back.

The company that hosts the servers for ESO and related environments will be moving our servers to a new location on Saturday, November 7th. The servers will be down from 12:00am to 8:00am CST (GMT -5) that morning. We will keep you updated as to the progress of the server move. Age of Empires III and Age of Mythology will be affected.

The eso.com domain expiration date of 24-mar-2018 is interesting. I wonder if MS will be interested in renewing it in three years.

ESO is somehow linked to the website. I recall several moderators mentioning this and users also are instructed to try to access eso.com when experiencing connection issues. Although the old eso.com is still up, the new forum is back down (wasn't an entire day time enough to fix it?).

as someone who was practically living in agecomm I can confirm. Somewhere during the maintenance the agecomm forums would die for a few minutes aswell.
