noob coaching pro showmatch

Post by Squamiger »

How about this idea I had for a showmatch: two pros play eachother, but on either side, there's a super noob over the mic screen sharing and coaching their every move. Like someone pr 10-12 telling them what treasures to get, what cards to send, what units to make, etc. The pros can still micro and fight like pros but they have to do what the noob says. If he says they need to make a mill at 8 minutes, then its milling time baby

How about a pro coach a noob whilst playing a decent player.

Vote for me as the noob coach. I promise to not give a damn about the gameplay and focus 100% on elevating the banter.

Actually I think the best way to do this is to just have a pro playing mid level players on stream with a noob coaching him, because I imagine hearing what the noob is saying will be the most entertaining/ funniest part. And if it’s a show match between two groups you would only be able to hear one at a time anyways. I’m imagining a twitch chat full of people screaming at the noob to tell him to make villagers or something and he’s just oblivious

It would be a great way to check out if some guys really have better knowledge than their PR.

I think we could go by a 10 pr formula. Could a pr 35, coached by a pr 15, beat a pr 25?

There are a few of these with interjection and one with Callen that I did ages ago. It’s less coaching and more in game guiding. I think it helps to see where people might make different decisions or have different awareness.

yea the idea comes from the relatively common practice of having a better player screen share and coach a lower pr / less skilled player, which is a useful thing to do. but I think it would just be funny and silly to have the noob dictate the build order and strategy to the pro, who would then have to rely on his micro and reflexes to try to salvage the situation

In fact I used to play like this. When I was young I did not own the game but I played with my cousin. One of us would hold the mouse and the other would advise him on what to do. And we would switch every ten minutes ! I was specialised in the second term.

I remember watching the video where you coached Callen and one with Interjection. Both were very insightful.
