Re: Twitch category missing
I suppose they're replacing the categories with something more generic as opposed to having three categories for one game. In classic Microsoft fashion, of course.
Re: Twitch category missing
They only want to promote the definitive edition
Re: Twitch category missing
Agree with Bram. Probably going to just have an "Age of Empires" category. Sucks a little to have to weave through the other streams, but will also be good as we will likely see much more foot traffic and eyes landing on AOE3 than would be in our own little category. Or it is just Twitch being Twitch.

Re: Twitch category missing
Yeah either way is imperfect solution. Having 4 titles show up under AOE3 is a convoluted mess, but then I don't want to see those dirty nilla scrubs in my TAD feed.

TAD should be getting merged into just AoE3 at some point, and the DE categories should return

Re: Twitch category missing
I think having all 4 under the same title would be best. Most people would likely search Aoe3/Aoe3 DE. So having a 1 stop shop should help direct traffic and hopefully add some traffic

Re: Twitch category missing
It's nice for visibility, but I really don't want to see streams featured here cluttered with non AoE3 content. I'm still salty about the AoE2 community being sexist.

Re: Twitch category missing
Should just have an application on esoc if you're a streamer to show up on the side.

Only TAD as a separate directory is gone. They merged all AOE3 content into one category, probably in preparation of the DE launch and to make sure they get the maximum audience by having all versions in one place.

The sidebar streamer section is so nice by ESOC. I like checking the forums for streamers.

It was down for a day or 2. But yes, it is back up now, but there are some changes so the streams don't show up on the side anymore.Dolan wrote:Wdym

Re: Twitch category missing
Doesnt really make sense. The asain dynasties had like 50k followers, regular aoe3 has like 12k, also aoe3 twc still has its own section.
Re: Twitch category missing
Imo have no categories at all - every seperate Age of Empires game has exactly one category.
Aoe1, aoe2, aoe3 and when aoe4 comes out, that one gets its own category too.
Who cares if it's DE, HD, the original versions or any expansion. All these distinctions would clutter up a lot.
With a quick glance you see right away which version it is anyway.

Re: Twitch category missing
Yea it is, I just think they should have taken the TAD section since it has way more followers.
Re: Twitch category missing
Or when they removed the TAD section, carry over the followers from that to the new aoe3 only categorygibson wrote:Yea it is, I just think they should have taken the TAD section since it has way more followers.
Re: Twitch category missing
Same difference, its just a shame that 10s of thousands of people got unfollowed from AOE
Re: Twitch category missing
Nobody from the rest of the world that doesn't play AOE3 knows what TAD is. Only we know, because we're a bunch of AOE3 maniacs.gibson wrote:Doesnt really make sense. The asain dynasties had like 50k followers, regular aoe3 has like 12k, also aoe3 twc still has its own section.

Okay? Completely irrelevant to the point I was making.Dolan wrote:Nobody from the rest of the world that doesn't play AOE3 knows what TAD is. Re: Twitch category missing
The point was that Microsoft needs to simplify Twitch categories because they're not gonna sell DE only to TAD or nilla players, or even only to the current player base of all AOE3 packs.
So it doesn't matter that TAD had more followers than nilla, because the number of followers was never a criterion for making this decision. There was another criterion that had priority.
That criterion was simplifying Twitch categories to make sure DE will have better visibility under a bigger directory.

Re: Twitch category missing
You again missed the point. The point is it could have been easily simplified while keeping the part that had 50k followers instead of 12k.Dolan wrote:The point was that Microsoft needs to simplify Twitch categories because they're not gonna sell DE only to TAD or nilla players, or even only to the current player base of all AOE3 packs.

What makes you think microsoft had anything to do with the categories?
