musketeer925's Survey #2

Post by musketeer925 »

Some of you may remember the survey I conducted awhile ago. I made another one, with an ESOC patch centered theme.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bGo_De ... Q/viewform

If you have opinions that don't fit in any options, or you'd like to expand on something, please post in this thread. Also note that I made this, and it doesn't reflect the ESOC patch team's views about the patch or where the team intends to take it.

Thanks for everyone's time.

I think slightly more balance changes has great potential to make the game more enjoyable, but it's hardly necessary for balance in most cases. Of critical importance, however, it seems a lot of community members would appreciate slightly more changes.

I'll throw some of my ideas out here of what I'd like to see. Gotta be more open to changes.

1. Bug Fixes.
2. Animation Corrections.
3. Water Balance. (if possible?)
4. Updating the new maps for team.
5. Dropping the "ESOC" in front of map names.
6. Setting Observer Maps into their own map set. (No need to constantly search for the most updated map. See no point not doing this?)
7. New map images made for the new maps. (I'm working on this currently)
8. Rebuilding the ES maps from the ground up.
9. Custom UI when loading into ESO. (Just with site updates and tournament info etc. No changes to colors or any of that.)
10. Improved land balance, however that's accomplished.
11. Custom ESO Avatars.
12. Perhaps a name change due to Elder Scrolls Online? :P
13. Option to install different Game UI. (Such as Ekanta or Qazitory)

I believe the patch balance team is in the process of going through your big list to evaluate which are good suggestions and which would affect balance in a negative way, and the approved ones should get incorporated into the next major balance update, if not sooner.

2. Animation Corrections.

I believe these are probably included in your "Bug fixes" list? Also, if you've made any of these changes in game files already for things like this, it would be great if you could send them my way. These kinds of changes, or anything that is just changing a non-shared file, are super easy to just paste in if you've already got them done.

4. Updating the new maps for team.

Do you mean balancing them better for it? They all support team as of either the latest or a couple updates ago.

5. Dropping the "ESOC" in front of map names.

Any reasoning here?

6. Setting Observer Maps into their own map set. (No need to constantly search for the most updated map. See no point not doing this?)

Agree, but they'll probably just go into the custom maps group, rather than the rated one.

7. New map images made for the new maps. (I'm working on this currently)

I think Tilanus has a PSD and method for doing this already if you're interested in collaborating with him.

8. Rebuilding the ES maps from the ground up.

This is a lot of work, but if you have skills for that and would like to pursue it, it would probably be welcome if the community likes your changes.

9. Custom UI when loading into ESO. (Just with site updates and tournament info etc. No changes to colors or any of that.)

This is something we've discussed as well, but never implemented.

10. Improved land balance, however that's accomplished.

Not sure what you mean here.

11. Custom ESO Avatars.

Does the game really allow you to just "add" them, rather than replace them? Have you done this before? And if so, how does it appear when you get back on non-patched ESO? Many people play on both the patch and RE.

12. Perhaps a name change due to Elder Scrolls Online? :P

Probably a bit late for this.

13. Option to install different Game UI. (Such as Ekanta or Qazitory)

This is something I support, and the framework for it, as I mentioned elsewhere, is in progress.

By the way, add me on Skype or fb messenger or something, wanna talk to you a bit (gonna pm you my info).

I strongly support small balance changes, not because I'm afraid of changing the meta, but because if you change a lot of stuff at once, its basically impossible to predict the real implications.. (just remember every single official patch...)

You made questions regarding a new method of finding games in the patch, would this be really doable? (I have no idea how far are you able to change stuff in game..) But it sounds great.

It'd have to be more of an external tool, but it could be cleverly designed with overlays to appear as if it was part of the game.

1. Yes, I believe some of the fixes will be fixed outright. Others will have to be discussed. A few just simply can't or won't be fixed. This is more of a wish list, I don't know what staff reads what section.

2. Correct I only separated them since it is one of those things that you can argue was intentionally designed in that manner. It's just one of those things that was poorly designed, and really doesn't effect gameplay.

4. I was just under the impression they weren't fully completed for team games. If they were I'd suggest updating the patch notes.

5. Looks less professional. Minor detail, it's just text, nothing important.

6. You have to play the map in FFA mode. Can't be rated regardless. Makes no sense not to so people don't have to constantly swap between maps and be kicked in and out of rooms. It will speed up games and make casting look far more professional. If a map update is ever implenented we can update everyone at the same time.

7. New map images are definitely possible. We did them on AS Fan Patch 1.2.

8. I know how to build maps, I'm horrible at placement and making the map look pretty. There are others that could be recruited however. I would say this would be the next progression for the patch, and would be the most enjoyed.

9. I say go for it. The bigger the community the better.

10. I meant just balance for land units since I brought up water. Water I can wager won't be touched balance wise. Land units however will be. And I would hope the balance changes could be effective.

11. Nope, but I'd imagine it'd be the same way we added images to FP 1.2. If people went back to RE they'd probably default to a regular image. The goal however is to keep people on EP and not revert back to RE.

12. Perhaps... ^_^

13. Yes! Custom UI should be able to be installed. A simple drop down in the install menu is easy to include.

Thanks for this input on those! Looks like we're mostly on the same page on most of that.

6. Hadn't thought of the FFA part, good point. Will be considered.
7. I know they're possible, just wanted to point out the Tilanus already has the PSDs and stuff to make decent looking ones, and he'd probably be willing to share.

As the UI maps are usually 2v2 obs enabled as well, setting FFA does not fix the problem at all if you want to put it in the regular map pool. For 2v2 obs you always want it to be set up as non-FFA, as putting FFA and then using triggers for diplomacy will result in a multitude of annoying bugs.

Are lots of team games being played in OBS? My opinion on this it will speed up casting, and tournament matches for 1v1. It will also make casting for these 1v1 tournaments more professional looking.

For team games, Observer maps can still be played from the custom map pool. It's not like I'm suggesting to take that away.
