could call it central
when i played competitive pokemon, one of the tournament formats hosted on smogon.com was a "world cup of pokemon". similar to this, you play to represent your country. the 16 teams were:
france / spain / germany / italy / UK / europe / asia / oceania / us west / us east / us central / us metro / canada / latin america / brazil / africa + arabia
if this format were to be ported over to aoe3, some relevant teams missing: netherlands / probably a split between china and japan / general east europe, general west europe teams maybe? / the nordics / us metro is probably useless

I think then that regions should be divided by a number of active players, so we can possibly connect Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia etc.
