Actually they have also restricted us from porn. So looks like they want people to study instead of playing or you know doing something else.
Lol porn doesn't take that much time

I would advise getting very fond of offline mode, possibly enjoying superb mods such as NE, or WOL, etc. You could also roll out the allmighty dollar for some mobile hotspot data plan and play off of your own wireless data if that is possible in that area
Careful with that, I've tried playing AOE3 on some mobile networks and from my experience it didn't work at all - FTJ everywhere and no way to port forward anything. Could be different for other ISPs of course, but you should be vary of this and try out if it even works before you get into some deal.

I'm lucky that I'm not in a university, I'm just in school, can play from home and I'm not addicted to pornshit

@Jerom
Actually my issue is a bit different. I do get access to eso but it just gives me FTJ for 90% of game rooms. To fix that I summoned Cyber Ghost and hacked the timer with cheat engine to get rid of the shit connection timer. And then it worked for me (just for 85% game rooms, but was still happy).Jerom wrote:notification

Re: Cyberoam has blocked ESO.
It is perfectly fine uni blocking access to certain websites. The free access to net at uni is meant to help students improve their grades, knowledge etc. If you want for personal use you should just buy your own. Even if uni didn't block access practically speaking if you use uni net for personal use unless stated by uni it is abuse of the system. Apart from that as far as I am aware India doesn't have truly unlimited internet plans. Uptill 2014 I stayed in US. I got high speed net somehwere ~ 2011. The plan which I got was a flat fee of $50 for unlimited internet access per month without any speed throttling data limit etc. Currently I am in India too, my current plan is about INR 1500 (~ 25$) per month for 25 Gb for 50 Mb/s after which I can use Net but speed is throttled to 1 Mb/s. See the difference? Maybe your uni is also on some similar commercial plan. In order to stop abuse by few individuals and guarantee high speed access to all students it is probably blocking access to all the websites which are unrelated to study material.

Re: Cyberoam has blocked ESO.
hey, My university also uses Cyberoam and it blocks online gaming completely. But i managed to play those days by using VPNs.
I saw some people mentioning Tor browser, that wont help at all obviously, Best way for you is Hideallip VPN, 2nd best maybe Hide.me VPN. Although using those might result in FTJ several times(the reason i played aoe mostly outside eso), but thats the only option you got. Most of the times ftj issue gets resolved when you change server on the vpn. Hope that helps!

well this is already mentioned in the fee structure please don't worry yourself with that.

No they are don't, they say that to provide all with the same bandwidth they block gaming and torrent sites.

Re: Cyberoam has blocked ESO.
I think that a mobile hotspot is probably the best option here. I don't think you would need a very large plan to cover just gaming on ESO.
A university that blocks gaming outright is pretty ridiculous. I understand that for purely academic institutions, but (as I assume is the case here) students live on campus and getting other internet is not really an option other than a hotspot, which can be very expensive to get very much data on. There are plenty of reasonable solutions, depending on exactly what issues they're trying to solve:
- Data expensive / bandwidth issues?
My university has a sliding 6 GB limit over 36 hours, after which we get severely throttled if we use any more data than that over the period. Depending on costs, much lower limits could of course be limited.
- Don't want students to disturb others who are trying to study?
At least in the US, schools typically have separate buildings for residence halls and academic buildings. These restrictions can be imposed on academic buildings but not residence halls, so students have somewhere to go to study if they need to.
- Do not want classes interrupted?
Could put restrictions on it during typical in-class hours.
- Trying to encourage studying over other activities?
This is honestly just absurd. You can't study 24/7, and it seems the university prefers students go out drinking (or more potentially problematic, drink on campus) instead of gaming?
It seems to me like what they're doing is a really bad solution to whatever issue they're trying to solve. Now, if it's just that they're blocking P2P traffic for security reasons, that's pretty reasonable, but that doesn't sound like that's the case.

Re: Cyberoam has blocked ESO.
In the U.S.A. all public libraries (and many a donut shop!) have internet access. You can play from there, maybe. It's not good if your gaming times are only after 10 PM, but otherwise it works well.

@Octanium
I used to play aoe on Hide.me VPN, although it would reduce your speed a bit, but i used to get something like 98 mbps unlimited, so never a problem for me.
Later i found another VPN, Hideallip (best one) which doesnt reduce the speed and have hundreds of servers to connect all over the world.
Me and all of my freinds from the college used to play aoe online like that only. Try that if you didnt already. Let me know!
Also like @musketeer925
Btw try the above method first!
sorry, wasnt active here. Well what do you mean VPNs dint connect? which one did you use?Octanium wrote:notification

get a smartphone with 4g data plan and tether off that to play on eso... they may block school internet, but not your phone!
