Single player strugle while playing as Japan

So it happens every time i have AI as an ally, in this case I've placed the shrines close to orange just not to wait 10 more minutes until he comes to the farther ones. As a result, all his workers, expected to generate food.. just hang around the shrines (it goes up to even 30 workers chilling with them pets...) AI end up having no food and gets rekt fast. Is there any solution to this one ?

The AI kinda sucks. There are some mods for the AI I think, I know that the Napoleonic Eras mod has one bundled in with it. If you want to play single-player I'd really recommend at least that mod.

EDIT: I feel like NE is adding/changing too much within the game, which i already enjoy. Any less intrusive solution ?

Also, have you considered walling the shrines? Maybe it would prevent the AI vills from standing underneath them idly...

It's been awhile since I've played NE but I think there was a way to use the AI in the regular game since the files were separate (eg you could install NE, copy the AI mod, reinstall regular game, then install AI manually). However, I don't know at all how to do that. Maybe @tilanus

Don't know if NE has made additional improvements, but iirc this AI mod is the one NE's AI is based upon.

Yea, NE AI is based on Draugur AI, but already miles away from the default state. Major improvements were carried out by kangcliff. Btw, just to clarify this: the NE AI wouldn't work for TAD due to adjustments made.
