Our goal with seeding is to capture player skill levels in an unbiased and accurate way. The purpose of seeding is to give new talent the opportunity to prove themselves against players of their skill while allowing veterans to play in more meaningful late round games.
The two most unbiased sources of information we have available are past tournament results, and players 1v1 ELO’s. We use this information to seed players. For the most part 1v1 ELO is an accurate representation of your performance in a tournament. Data from previous events supports this.
• Any player who has finished in the top 16 of the last event and signs up again will be automatically seeded in the top 16 seeds based on their performance and players who sign up.
• 12 seeds are distributed using 1v1 ELO. Higher the ELO the better the seed.
• 4 seeds are distributed as wild cards.
The top 28 players who sign up for the event based on seed advance ahead of the bracket stage. All remaining players are distributed into 30 groups. The size of those groups depends on the number of signups. After group stage completes there will be 60 group stage winners (Top 2 from each group) and 4 wild card players who will land in the bracket amongst the top 28 players for a chance at bracket stage.
