Check-in Bumpiness

Post by _H2O »

Hi Everyone!

Lets keep all conversation in one spot regarding players in and out of the tournament.

We tried a new approach this tournament to remedy the large number of inactive players in the group stage. The check-in process was something new and we did lose some people along the way. Right now there are two different threads on the matter. I am making this thread so we can share what all has been done to address those.

Matches are getting played now, and we are officially closing out any requests to be added into the brackets. It is not likely that requests can be accommodated at this time.

Players Added to the Tournament:

Wave 1 (Regenerated)
Risi123
sergyou7
OPTIMUS__PRIME

Wave 2 (Manual)
ForJustice
Einhornleiche
KickAss
Senjuer
Marco1698

Information on Wave 2:
Due to some unforeseen difficulties with the check ins, a few small adjustments have been made to the groups and the brackets. The changes are listed down below.

KickAss_OP to Group 5
Forjustice and Marco1698 play a RO128 game
Senjuer to Group 3

The rest of the groups remain unchanged.

Does it at all concern any tournament administrator that about ten people have noted how they were stricken despite checking in? Humbleness would go a long way here.

Inferred fault would be on the participants' side.

It does. I believe it was due to a misunderstanding about the check-in process. Likely some language barriers involved. Also the feeling that providing a reason that is "out of my control" would improve chances of being added. We added everyone who reached out.

I see no issues with the technology needing to change. One possible issue was the one day where we lost the database and had to revert. That may have lost one or two check ins based on our averages.

Also people don't like signing up twice, so we will probably change that in the next event.

Probably people hate others not playing their groupstage games more than they hate signing up twice. I think this is one of those things that should be polled.

This is actually not a possibility. The data loss occurred on March 14th, while check ins were not open until March 20th.

Good call, then this makes me even more confident in the technology.

I think people just fucked up and forgot and are now trying to blame other stuff for it. That seems more likely to me.

Anyway, we won't be able to decide weather it whas a good idea or not until the end of the bracket. If the amount of played matches get really highter, it's fine, either, that's bad.

to be honest i kinda think that aswell. Like did you read risis comment on the topic. It reads like: I signed up didnt know about check in because i dont visit the forum every day and its unfair that i cant participate becasue of this. He just juumped on the wagon.

Also I got proof that the Brackets are rigged: I was prolly gonna play against a player I dodged for years and this is unacceptable - no way it's a coincidence. This alone is proof enough, it's a conspiracy!
