Make the AoE3 forum opt in
Make the AoE3 forum opt in
Or better yet just remove it.
It's toxic and cluttering my "unread posts" page which is otherwise populated by friendly, intellectual OT discussions. It's ruining my forum experience.
For example today I logged in, went to unread posts and saw these threads
viewtopic.php?f=982&t=24455
viewtopic.php?f=982&t=24451
... which, while slightly amusing, ultimately proved a waste of time to read. I could have been reading PoC's enlightening takes on the war in Ukraine instead.
Opt in because new members shouldn't be subjected to the toxic community in the AoE3 forums by default. This will lead to them tragically leaving the forums before having been exposed to aforementioned enlightening takes.

You wouldn't believe this but I literally wrote "This thread shouldn't exist on ESOC but alas! without the drama esoc won't exist" before deleting that cuz fuck it I said I don't care.
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

New forum users should only be allowed to see the Archive section of off topic until they've sufficiently learned ESOC history, then they can be allowed to post normally

Re: Make the AoE3 forum opt in
If the entire forum isn't forced to read viewtopic.php?f=315&t=24437 then I don't see any point in making posts, which is to force people to read things
If I were a petal

From flowers or pollen froth
To wither on a young child’s
Display. Fetch
Me a ribbon, they, all dead
Things scream.

Seriously though, I havent really been keeping up with aoe stuff but whenever I have a look it seems ultra toxic.

Re: Make the AoE3 forum opt in
Love it. So we need to make an ESOC history exam?fightinfrenchman wrote: ↑13 Jun 2022, 18:18New forum users should only be allowed to see the Archive section of off topic until they've sufficiently learned ESOC history, then they can be allowed to post normally

Re: Make the AoE3 forum opt in
seems like forums got mostly replaced by discord which leaves the only purpose of the forum as a neutral ground for drama between discord cliques, and then official forums now exist too which soak up the vast majority of newcomers
