Possible solution for allowing emojis in text posts
Possible solution for allowing emojis in text posts
Probably some peeps noticed you can't post emojis on this forum; you get an error message if you do. I think this is caused by the version of MySQL you might be using.
You might need to upgrade to at least MySQL 5.5.3 and to use the utf8mb4 character set, which will give you one extra byte and access to supplementary Unicode characters that can be posted on the forum.
This is just my speculation though, not sure if you're actually using MySQL, though I expect you might be doing so, since it's very common for phpBB3 forums to use it.

We actually have 5.6.34, but only utf8, not utf8mb4. Interesting.
Pay more attention to detail.
Re: Possible solution for allowing emojis in text posts
Yeah, the impossibility of posting certain Unicode characters seems to be caused by using only utf8 in MySQL >v5.5.
