Re: PR 30+ section
Well, setting up a closed forum is an absolutely legit thing to do, not gonna argue with that.
One thing i think i'm missing though is this issue that GUA is claiming: balance forums "taken over by casuals". Excluding aqwer's lobbying for Otto supremacy (and Otto consulate) and Jotunir's lobbying for Dutch supremacy, i can't say i really see this a lot here.
I mean, tbh i see GUA post in balance forums very rarely so it's not like he is always trying to have constructive discussion which is then inevitably demolished and derailed by "casuals".
Personally i don't express myself that much in terms of balance, most things pro players say i just take for granted. I think it's interesting to try to come up with solutions to possible balance issues and design issues, and generally that's what i'm doing, i'd say.
Also, from what i've seen in the past, for example in EP7 closed forums, invitation only forums tend to die pretty quickly (assuming the current open forums aren't already dead, now).
If that's what you want, then by any means go ahead and do it. I just don't really see how it would take you much farther than we are right now.
You almost make it sound like the problem with EP is low PR players posting in the forums, which i really don't believe it is.

Re: PR 30+ section
I remember that if (I said if!) The players who will be able to participate in the forums are based only on PR then it is bad, because this can be easily circumvented with two accounts from the same owner or with the help of a cheater in the RE.
When a pro player makes a bad suggestion then the idea is not applied, just as when a novice player makes a bad suggestion it should also just be ignored, so what is the difference between the two bad suggestions?
Preventing newbies from participating in the forums only proves the lack of maturity of other players in just knowing how to ignore or explain why the idea is bad.
Anyway, who decides the changes in the EP is Zoom and if I'm not mistaken he doesn't have PR 30 then he won't be able to participate.
This all seems like a joke, hopefully Tantalus and World Edge are not seeing this ...

Re: PR 30+ section
Better suggestion: make a Victor_swe section of the forums where @Victor_swe is the gate keeper. In order to access, you have to post a game of you beating Vic in a 1v1. Additional flair/permissions depending what n number of hunts killed, raxes made, etc. in the game that provides access.

Re: PR 30+ section
I oppose this idea, just because this is a small community already and fracturing it more is probably not good. Isn't there some concern that this would just lead to the other forums feeling dead?

Re: PR 30+ section
It feels like people reply without reading my full post first. I never said to get rid of regular forum balance talk or that it is bad for casual players to post. I dont really post on the forums a ton so this wasn't really meant for me. Just a suggestion that would seem to make sense.

Re: PR 30+ section
You only say that because you know for sure that no one on this planet can beat Victor_Swe in a 1v1. That would be one lonely subforum for sure...Zutazuta wrote:Better suggestion: make a Victor_swe section of the forums where @Victor_swe is the gate keeper. Re: PR 30+ section
Would us peasants still be able to view the forum at least? Even if we can't comment it would be nice to be in the loop with what kinds of discussion is being had about the game we all play.

Re: PR 30+ section
I'd say if you averaged out the PR by number of posts/replies on balance topics, the avg PR would be at least around 1lt/captain. This is already a forum of mid-high ranked people.

Re: PR 30+ section
you just insulted gua with that comment, i really hope you die
Re: PR 30+ section
i'd also say that this doesnt make sense because there are definitely players who are lower ranked who might still understand more about certain aspects of the game than higher ranked players. for example, how many of you pros know how much HP a landesknecht has, off the top of your head? i bet @dansil92 knows

Perhaps I went too far "lobbying for Dutch supremacy" but that is because I believe that they need it (not the supremacy part, just a small buff).
Having said that I only have 1 thing to say to this thread:
Self-righteousness (also called sanctimoniousness, sententiousness, and holier-than-thou attitudes) is a feeling or display of (usually smug) moral superiority derived from a sense that one's beliefs, actions, or affiliations are of greater virtue than those of the average person. Self-righteous individuals are often intolerant of the opinions of others and are thought to exhibit hypocrisy due to the belief that humans are imperfect and can therefore never be infallible.

Re: PR 30+ section
It's not about sensitivity, at least from my part. I think that it will only break apart a community that's already small compared to others, that's why I am against restrictive threads in general.bittersalt123 wrote:We can only improve as a community if our sensitivity levels go way way way way down.Jotunir wrote:I do.bittersalt123 wrote:PR 30+ players can be as smug as they want as long as they help all of us noobs improve our gameplay then who gives a shit?
