Strange builds
Is there a place I can find builds that aren't used very often, and can still be at least mildly affective? Other than watching aizamk videos? I watched one with him being Dutch on hispaniola with a caribou rush that was cool. I tried it out with Brits to make lb do bonus vs vills, and it was kinda fun. Ink if it works for cavalry archers, but that would be op for Sioux. Ik some "archer improvements" work for cav archers like Seminoles, so would this work? Keshiks and Br for age 2 raids lol
Re: Strange builds
Surf around the strategy wall and Insight studios build tester section to keep getting content. And I think that the Seminoles TP doesn't have any cav archers, I guess.

Oh ok, someone told me anything listed "archer" worked on cav too, I guess I was misinformed, thanks. So like tupi, Seminoles etc don't have an affect on them?

it does. Seminole, tupi, and carib TP's affect bow riders, as well as Team ranged infantry combat (french card).

Re: Strange builds
So does carib upgrade that makes archers deal increased damage work on cav?

Re: Strange builds
@alistairpeter yes as Darwin_ said, it affects bow riders, cavalry archers, keshiks, native cav archers... on ESOC Florida you have both Seminole and Carib tribes, OP for archer troll builds

Re: Strange builds
Trying out china on hispaniola. Both mercy shipments are archers, type have an army of both hand and arch in age 2 from the carib extra attack and the crates help rush

But in all seriousness, Carib warriors are pretty underrated. Their range sucks, but they are arguably more efficient than xbows, their colonial equivalent, in terms of stats and cost.

They cost 20 res more overall, but it's food. Additionally, they have more hp, a better multiplier against heavy infantry, and have higher base damage.
Also, has anyone evaluated the efficiency of the Ambushers tech (one that lets explorer train like 10 of them)? It seems like it would be good for raiding, etc.

X-bows have a hidden cost of 10 wood for pop, as does every casual unit.
Caribs have the cost of a TP and possibly a native embassy. If you intend to train more of them, they will eventually be worth it.
I thought once the same about colonial play with Tupi warriors, and they were marginally not worth it. Since Caribs are better and they have very good upgrades, they should be ok.
Tupi on the other hand might be good for a different reason. 200w for a TP and then 75w 75c to enable the production of cougars, namely. Cougars are like war dogs and Sioux bears—fast, reasonably strong, auto upgrading and produced from just food. Moreover, they are produced in TCs, so they are awesome for timings.
