Strategic- Camera Control?
Strategic- Camera Control?
Y’know how holding ctrl and the arrow keys moves the camera. Has anyone used this function strategically in supremacy?
I can think of a few ways this can help in certain situations but Idk how practical it actually is or isn’t.. For instance one example is in a fight where micro-ing is hard bc of a ball/etc and the angle, you could use the camera to ‘get better clicks’ on units?
Not sure if this is correct place for post i’m only a musketeer - Thank U

It's not very effective, and as far as I know, only kynesie does it.

Now this is a revelation, i have never heard or seen anyone use ctrl plus arrow keys. What a shitty combination, the answer to your question is no, just use the mouse.
I don't get what you're saying. Arrow keys work on TAD and this thread is about camera rotation

This then might be slightly off topic, but theoretically speaking moving around the map using hotkeys vs edge panning does seem superior. I've just never managed to free up some keys on the left side of my keyboard. Using wasd might be good, but I'm already using all of those for other things. I also feel like drag scrolling could be efficient, although I think aoe3 does not have this option. Edge panning just feels inefficient, too bad I'm so used to it.

ctrl+mouse wheel rotates the camera too. More conveninet than using the arrow keys. Don't see much use for it.

Screen rotation is pretty useless in supremacy imo. I used to do it in supremacy because it was a habit carried over from treaty. When I streamed supremacy some people complained about it and I stopped, and it made no difference in my gameplay compared to when I used to do it.

A man of the people. Have you considered running for public office?

I NEVER KNEW THIS WAS POSSIBLE. I hate playing maps like Carolina, New England, Florida, Manchuria, where I'm on the top right side instead of the bottom left. It feels like my units are walking backwards/uphill. This changes everything.

Camera rotation is good only for treaty scrubs

Re: Strategic- Camera Control?
Wait, does it rotate the camera or just move it around? I could see rotating being super useful on those maps where trees spawn directly in front of your TC and you can't do your crate micro right.

Back when I was only really using 3 hotkeys (tc, make vill and find explorer) I actually had camera movement on WASD and some day I realized that I never ever use it and mapped the keys to more useful stuff (and improved with that). May be a personal preference but I feel using keys for camera movement is a waste.
