Question about German BuildOrder card and upgrades
I would like to ask whether some cards are useful for Germany or not. For example 5 ulhan (II), 700 food(II) , 1000 food (III), 1000 wood (III), 7 skirmishers (III), 2 heavy cannons (IV) and 2 outpost (II). Also de market upgrades whether I must or must not upgrade.
Cards :
5 ulhans(II): I use 5 ulhan card when I want to do a fast age 2 fast cav rush, vs civs like China. China is weak vs Germany cav semi ff rush. BO is 2sw(I) , 5 ulhans(II) , 3sw(II) , 700 gold(II), 8 skirmishers(III), 9/8 ulhans(III) card etc. Also when I do crossbow pike rush vs india lame age 2 10/10 villager seboys rush, I might use 5 ulhans(II) to chase down seboys while crossbowman shoot as much as possible.
700 food(II): 700 food is used for preserve when I lack of food. There is a lot of factors. Either I don't have any near by hunts, or I have to use it when I have timing issues when micro and macro at the same time. For example, in Great Plain maps if I don't have nearby hunts, then I might choose 700 food instead of 700 coin for age up. Its a bs BO for Germany but I have to do it or else I cant maintain food production vs op rush or boom civs. BO is 2sw(I), 3sw(II) , 700 wood(II) , 700 food(II) (instead of 700 coin(II)).
1000 food(III): Many players don't use this card (except Portugal Fast industrial). But personally I use it when necessary because I like double tp vs France. For example vs france musket hussar rush, I usually send 1000 food(III), 1000 gold(III) shipment and 3 war wagon card(III) to make ww and aim at musket first and then hussar. Since I personally believe that Black Rider card cant do much vs musket because of 12 range, but ww has 16 range which is good vs both musk and hussar. Sending 3 ww card cost a lot of population, and its bad for eco when I have to handle a massive musket push. So if skimisher cant do anything when skimisher hussar combo, why not do a full WW army strat hit and run. BO is 2sw(I), 3 sw(II) , 700 gold(II) , 1000 food(III)/ 1000 gold(III), 3 ww (III), etc. Germany player age 3 facing a huge musket hussar push is pretty dawn scary, especially when Germany facing a rush while France can just boom from behind while making musk huss micro and then map control. In that case if Germany lose too many soldiers and cannot collect resouces out of your base the it will be gg for Germany.
1000 wood(III): This card I guess its for building a new tc, or anything like house, outpost, more tps or even petards/ falconet cannons rush. But I don't understand why other pro players dont put it in the deck as Germany.
7 skirmishers (III):Im not sure whether this card is a must or not. Germany has too many good age 3 cards, I cant put all of them in the deck. So this card is useful after you send 8 skirmishers (III) to do a skirmish ulhan ww army, to vs civs like dutch, ottoman ff or age 2 push, or a non barrack build vs German mirror. BO for Germany stable ulhan mass is 2sw (I) , 3sw(II) , 700gold (II) , 8 skirmishers (III) , 9 ulhan (III) , 7 skirmishers (III), 8 ulhans (III).
2 heavy cannons (IV): Germany might do some fast industrial vs some civs like Portugal. Heavy cannons good but I cant make good use of it when vs high level players. Feeling like a waste for my combo army when Portugal can do mass dragoon cassador and culvins.
2 outpost wagons (II): Not sure whether this card helps handling a ottoman jan or jan hussar or abus jan age 2 push. Vs ottoman is kinda complicated for Germany. If age 2 crossbow mass or ulhan mass not useful vs hussar jan then I have no idea how to stop a strong hussar jan rush. I need at least a tower to be built from de back of tc to shoot jans. I notice some players will build 2 outpost to defend.
Market upgrades:
Steel traps (age II food upgrade): Vs other civs I will do the upgrade expect Germany mirror. I have to consider whether i should do it or not while aging to 3. Germany is more likely a heavy gold civ. Might do some mercenary build or ulhan ww mass. The problem is, whoever do the upgrade who will collect food faster, but not sure its worth to do it when handling ulhan age 2 war while ff at the same time. Could have saved it to build another house, or an extra ww unit or a faster mercenary card.
Gang Saw (age I wood upgrade): When I have a 200 food 100 wood 100 gold start, or 300 food 100 wood start as Germany, I always build a market for hunting dogs even for 300 food 100 wood start I would sell 100 food for 75 gold. Then while aging up I do 100 food gang saw upgrade and build 2 trading posts. Question is, should I save it for other use or should I upgrade it when I start putting villagers on wood ? maybe a few like 3 to 6 vills.
Amalgamation (age II gold upgrade): Placer mines (age I gold upgrade) is a must do upgrade. The only thing I know to do amalgamation upgrade is when I do mercenary build vs any civs. In normal German ulhan skimisher build I am no sure it is good or not.
Blunderbuss (age I villager attack upgrade): I use it when I shoot hunts back to my tc or near outpost. Its so annoying when you anti herd your hunts, meaning you shoot animals way back when you expecting to shoot them to the direction you want to. My solution is once I shoot hunts to my tc, I kill them all just in case they ran away again from my tc/outpost. Hunts are too important cause it might be the end if you ran out of hunts while your opponent is rushing u.
In conclusion, a player has to manage well in micro and macro. Im too busy to micro and macro at de same time if map is bad or lack of hunts and stuff. Please let me know whether some cards are good and some upgrades are a must to Germany. Im a noob player anyway so tell me everything about Germany. Want to lame Germany to a higher pr. Question from player lord_fujunjohn.

Now a serious comment:
5 Uhlans is very useful to have in almost all matchups, as it makes for very good raids.
700f shouldn't be as urgent if you proactively herd hunts, and in case you play on a map with Cheyenne natives you can also use that amazing tech. Also worth to note is the rather cheap food costs of Xbows and Uhlans. In case of Cavalry attacks the 3 Dopps will do wonders on their own.
Same applies for 1000f
1000w should be a default in most if not all decks. Germany wants to jack up that economy in particular
7 Skirms - depends. The Jaeger shipment is *really* good, and if you manage your troops well those Jaegers will do you miracles. Do it if you suspect the map wont be good with gold or you are facing Otto or Japan, who will very likely spam out a ton of musks
Heavy Cannons - why not just ship factories and have them trickle the same unit? In age4 you wanna avoid unit shipments unless they are bonkers or you are going fast industrial for whatever reason. If you can spend 3200 resources for an age-up your eco is most likely good enough that you can simply invest resources into those units rather than rely on shipments. I usually just have factories in age4, perhaps some really really good card, something to the level of Morutaru upgrade and Tokugawa
Outpost Wagons - just no. it is worth 500 resources for an age where the baseline is 700 resources, and the villager time saved isn't enough to warrant it
I also suggest shipping the Mercenary combat card, Jaegers are already really really good, now imagine them with 20% more strength!
