There should be a beauty prize in every tournament (like in chess). Take out 20 bucks from the main prize pool and give it to the most beautiful game of the tournament.
ESOC : came for the game, stayed for the drama.

Given circumstances the only winner is Tabben vs Diarouga on New England.

Playoffs heighten everything. And it's not like Tabben had a week to prepare at his house in unrated games.

I know he had done it vs Lukas in a GUA tourney but to pull it off in such an environment to near universal surprise and vs an unbeatable rouga was nothing short of amazing.

Aiz is unqualified because his opponent was Tit. The rest are meh.

Alright, the polls are officially closed and the results have been tallied up...

2019's Best Strategy award goes to...

@WickedCossack!

It actually came down to the tiebreaker stats. Wicked's India Advanced Wonder madness was tied with tabben's high profile Spanish Revo strat, both yielding 29.3% of the pool (that's 17 votes each, out of 58 total). It came down to the favorite's scoring. tabben's Revo averaged out at 5.36 out of 7, which put him only just so slightly behind a 5.38 out of 7 average for Wicked's double dock elephant doomstack.

WickedCossack pulled off an insane win over Mitoe during the New World Championship qualifying series with his immaculate India water boom build that utilized Industrial Age elephant spam to overcome the Chinese threat on Baja California. Congratulations to our winner, and well played!

You can view the overall stats of the vote here.

First time I ever won anything in aoe3! Thanks for everyone who voted. :flowers:

Mildly boring fact for anyone who's interested - I practised the strategy in question twice in the week before I played Mitoe, once against diarouga, and once against tabben, both who also happen to be nominated (coincidence I think not?) Maybe if they knew of this super ultimate presitgous award in advance they might not of volunteered to be guinea pigs :lol:

Also huge thanks to @Mitoe for unknowingly setting me up for this, I had a lot of fun playing this match.

Tight race, until very late the Somppu Trade Monopoly was a winning candidate, however the two finalist overcame by a minimal margin. Yet there is room for only one victor and that was neither Swe nor Tabben. Nicely done, Wicked! Good games everyone and stay creative!

I'm very upset about this still. How did the Tabben revolt not win?? This was literally one of the greatest moments of my life.
