Yeah I tried everything to no avail.
Guess I’ll have to use the find selection key.

I think that would be the more practical approach but I am biased because I do it that way. You can open a thread on the official forum and explain your issue. Generally my findings are that the "snap to unit" behavior of this game is very inconsistent, and has been so in the legacy too.

Re: Hotkey question/problem
Pretty sure this is a bug that'll probably never get fixed. It wasn't like this until a few updates ago; it used to be that double-tapping would snap to the unit/building but tapping twice or more a bit more slowly would cycle through the units/buildings of the same type. Now it will only cycle no matter how fast you double-tap. Like harcha says you can use the find selection hotkey which is a pretty good substitute but annoying to re-learn.

Re: Hotkey question/problem
Yes, but people requested that the "find" hotkey would cycle through buildings of same type, and they made that change. Now we have people that want it to go back. In an ideal scenario these behaviors could be toggled through the settings but as it stands it seems like it kinda works one way except for it still bugs for a few people here and there.

Re: Hotkey question/problem
The find hotkey always did this though, you just had to wait a tiny bit longer than double-tapping. But yeah, more setting options could definitely solve this altogether, like an option to disable double-tap snapping on top of the current option to disable single-tap snapping.harcha wrote:Yes, but people requested that the "find" hotkey would cycle through buildings of same type
Re: Hotkey question/problem
I thought the cycling behaviour of the "find" hotkey was the standard since thats how the TP trick worked.
I think its a matter of adjust that snap threshold to one that you find comfortable.
I only use the find hotkey to cycle through building so I set it to 0. Maybe for the other functionality you want to set it to higher

Anyways, I have created a thread on the official forum. Be sure to let me know if I need to make any changes to it.

Re: Hotkey question/problem
Hey guys, I'm finally able to double-click any unit/building to snap to that unit/building in the January PUP version when I had to rebind all my hotkeys since game deletion (on purpose). Earlier, since DE I had to use it along 'find selection' hotkey to snap to it, which was 1 hotkey too many, personally.
My question now is, how do I ensure that this remains the same even when I shift to the non-PUP version. Should I delete the old user data (non-PUP version) that is still saved in
Or how do I go about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Edit:
Nvm, I got it. I had to copy the LocalKeybinding.xml file from PUP version to the main one.

Code: Select all
home user directory in Windows, then Games > Age of Empires 3 DE. Then open the folder with a lot of numbers, then "Users".
Your custom hotkeys are in the "NewProfile.xml" file, at the end in a "KeyMapGroups" XML tag.
