Iroquois Mongolia strategy

Post by yurashic »

I designed this build order some time ago and it seems very strong.

- Convert your starting travois into a farm.
- Chop for a house and build a tp.
- Look for cows and task them to the farm.
- Ship 3 vills followed by fulling mills (300% livestock gather rate increase)
- Age up with the shaman (2 travois)
- Build a market and research hunting dogs in transition.
- Convert 2 travois into 2 warhuts. Ship 600 wood for houses.
- Eat fully fattened cows and spam from 2 warhuts.

What do you guys think?

I think it's fine, but don't think you need fulling mills, you already gather over 2 times as fast from livestock. Rather do fast age up with 600w to spam war huts.

It would be very MU dependent. But against a civ like Port that punish it, it sounds really OP. However, if you want to hurt your opponent ASAP, it probably isn''t the way to go.

Let us do the math on fulling mills. Let n denote the number of fulling fattened cows (500 food apiece). The base gather rate for livestock is 2/sec so after fulling mills it is 8/sec. Thus the number of villager seconds saved by fulling mills is 500n(1/2 - 1/8). For a typical value n = 8, fulling mills saves 1500 villager seconds.
This can be compared to shipments like 600w, which is worth 1200 villager seconds, or 7 aenna worth 833 villager seconds.
We find that if you have a fair number of fully fattened cows, fulling mills is an extremely efficient age 1/2 shipment!

Nice calculation, but, after how many minutes will you be able to make use of this? When will the cows be fattened.

Also, it might be hard to get a whole lot of cows when you want to make a trading post.

And, do you have enough shipments in age 2 to send 600w or a unit shipment? You have to buy time before the card comes into play.

Cows on the farm take exactly 4 minutes to fatten.

Because you build a tp and age slowly you have a shipment when you reach age 2.

My exact thoughts. If you gather 8 food per second instead of 2 and get 10 cows it is like 4000 food gathered in the time you could gather 1000.

Also the faster you gather the cow, the less it decays

Fulling mills is just hella greedy. I would skip that and ship 5 vills or 7 aenna instead. I like the starting farm a lot of xp and increased food potenetial, especially in the late game.
