Howdah in Melee
In treaty when I play India, I sometimes like to put my howdahs in melee mode to fight skirms. They actually have more base hand attack then a mahout in that mode (i think 81) and they get 1 area damage. Does anyone else do this or should I say how many other people knew howdahs had a pretty strong melee attack?

Not sure if howdah get the bonus to infantry though, as mahout only have 56 attack but do double to infantry

Re: Howdah in Melee
Ive always preffered howdah over mahout, a lot more versatile, and 81 attack with 1 area is plent to kill of skirms

Re: Howdah in Melee
dont make howdahs unless till you are in age 3, they sick and suck because paying 600 res for just 72 ranged attack and 39 hand with 1 radius, also they are not too fast
In age 4 and 5 they are too good because there wont be much intensive micro from your enemy, and they have much good stats

So why would you use howdah vs skirms although mahout do more damage, have more hp, more ranged resistance and don't get countered by skirms unlike howdah?

When you have many howdahs on the field that just got done killing a gendarme cuirasser spam and the enemy makes skirms!

just dont overspam howdah and always put them back behind sepoy/gukha. When you have mahouts you can go forward with howdahs to counter artillery while mahouts take all damage as they r real tanks.

Against gendarme spam you dont want anything but howdahs. They're an amazing unit, I wish they were more viable in sup haha.

idk i feel like sepoy would to better, or a majority of sepoys with some howdah in the back
Re: Howdah in Melee
I honestly had no idea howdah were so good in melee mode. I use goons in melee all the time, especially if I'm trying to slow down another player's skirms. Can't believe I never thought of using a howdah this way...

Re: Howdah in Melee
How do zambs compare to howdah in tr btw? Because they seem quite excellent with the two very strong cav cards, while howdahs are mostly a disappointment in sup.

If they had decent training times they would be used over howdah for sure, cause they're harder to focus down and do less overkill. But you would need to add the 2 camel cards into your deck although you barely have space for them and would lose 2 other important cards (like saw mills or infinite chakrams/war elephants).
