Japan v. China (as China)

So how do you win this from China's end? I know China should win it, but what does China do against Japs in Fortress? Chinese units are good, but charging into a bunch of ashi, nagi, and flaming arrows has ended poorly for me on more than one occasion.

So what do I do? Do I age with the Academy and go in with arqs and my first shipment? Do I mass up? Do I go for the tower.

Always tower in this MU unless your opponent goes for a consulate rush, which almost never happens.
If he goes age 3, you'll be at least 1 min faster than him => your opponent gets outmassed anyway. Timing once your 9 redcoats have arrived.

I guess you can ship mortars if you really have trouble vs flaming arrows, but the cav should prob be able to kill them.

Aggresive ff (academy or tower) is probably your best bet.

on topic.. I'm not sure, I dont actually play china well, but I would bet on a ff with the earliest timming.. i'm quite sure that china can get to jap base with arq +cav + intervention before jap op eco kicks in in colo (or before he has anything very significant if he FF'd).... but I would need to test to be sure..

Standard stuff. Age up with tower, make only cav, send 9 musketeers and 10 arquebusiers. Timing push depending on army sizes. If he makes naginatas boosted with wonder and the 30% hitpoints card (almost everyone does this against China), send manchu. You should win the game with your first 3-4 shipments, otherwise his units will be unbeatable. Especially cav with 495 hitpoints that you do not beat without manchu.

You should play a few games as japan, just to feel the civ and better understand their vulnerability...

Imo thats the best thing to do in any case where you fell something is broken op..
