We go to the great lakes for white fish. Door County is also very fun place to go for fishing.vardar wrote:Nice!! I’m from Michigan but go to school in Iowa. With that being said, I miss my Michigan/Great Lakes bass fishing. We used to catch some nice whoppers like this oneHeadKilla wrote:Nothing like catching a Bass through the ice to put a smile on my face.
That bass is a lunker. Many people do not realize that the fish in the upper midwest and northern regions grow only a few months of the year and at a slower rate plus they live shorter lives compared to fish in the south. Catching the bass you have pictured is quiet a feat. I bet that beast weighed 4+ lbs. In a kayak even, I wonder if that bass took you for a ride around the lake before you were finally able to land him.
Re: Picture of yourself
The walleye is super popular fish but I really do not get it. I go to mille lacs very regularly for small mouth bass but we usually end up catching a good number of walleye in the process. The walleye never seem to really put up a fight after the initial tap tap tap. I have only attempted to target walleye a few times and struck out all but once. I don't even think the walleye are that good tasting compared to other fish. I understand that many people do not like to clean Pike, but I have no problems getting the "Y" bone out and can get 3 good fillets plus the cheeks per pike. The pike fight better and are just more enjoyable for me to catch on accident, while bass fishing. Of course, Crappie are the best fish to keep and eat. They grow super fast everywhere, live short lives, spawn often and are very good tasting fish that are easy to clean. When I am ice fishing, I am almost always targeting Crappie and any in the 8-12" range I will keep.vardar wrote:Nah didn’t drop it but we let it go. Walleye is the only fish we ever kept and cooked

@HeadKilla this used to be my backyard so we could pretty much go out everyday. Where I caught that bass was literally a 2 min kayak from our dock!
Maybe you have heard of the Thunder Bay river? There are even a few musky left from when they bred them in the 90’s. Those things are impossible to catch without ocean equipment tho

Re: Picture of yourself
Looks like paradise to me. I have not heard of it, but there are so many amazing spots I am not surprised. Unfortunately, a house on a lake in the Twin Cities is around $1 million so I have to drive a few miles each time I want to fish =(vardar wrote:@HeadKilla this used to be my backyard so we could pretty much go out everyday. There used to be a lot of muskie where I grew up, my grandpa has some pictures of huge river monsters he has pulled up.vardar wrote:@HeadKilla this used to be my backyard so we could pretty much go out everyday. Where I caught that bass was literally a 2 min kayak from our dock!

I will try to find some pictures and post here in the future.
Re: Picture of yourself
People fish for musky about half an hour from where I used to live, those are some big bastards.
Re: Picture of yourself
I had a single muskie on the line once. Got him close to the boat before he ripped the line and took off. I have seen many swimming around the boat, they just dont often want what I am tossing out.

Re: Picture of yourself
That’s sad. I grew up going to Tawas in the summer, I’d love to live there year round. Imagine it’s quite hard to find a good job though.
