Where to dl aoe3

Hi people and other creatures,

I finally got my hands on my aoe3 product keys, however, now I have no means of downloading the actual files. When I try to "activate product on steam" it says my product keys are invalid, which they shouldn't be since they're the real deal (from CD back then, though).
Have I selected the wrong option there or is there another way to install aoe3 for me?

I don't think you can dl if you only had the CD version. I guess you need steam version to dl from steam. You should look for an illegal copy Imo

Yeah, those product keys are of no use, aside from perhaps recovering your ESO account. It has never been possible to activate retail AoE3 CD keys on Steam, the only way to legally download the game is having bought the Steam digital version.

If you login to someone else's steam you can dl to your pc then enter ur acct key I believe.. or does steam version require a different type of key

Afaik, your CD keys are linked with the installer that was specially made for your CD. They don't work with any other installer.
That's the whole point about having individual CD keys. They give you a right to use them only with the actual product you bought (the CD).

Maybe you can contact Microsoft and they can help you with some kind of recovery solution. But then again, they have no way to know if you actually bought that CD or just claim to have done so.

Nah, as long as you have the installer, you can use anyone's key to proceed with the installation.

In your case I'd just download it from hudson pirate bay. Though remember it's technically illegal - despite owning the game - since you'll distribute the game to others in the process.

I've tried this before I made my ESO account. Someone gave me their CD key and told me I could use it with any installer. But it didn't work, so I just bought the game off Steam.
Then it worked, but the Steam keys only worked with the installer downloaded from Steam (and vice versa).

Hmm, that hasn't been my experience. It would be an issue if the key is in fact for a different game version (using a nilla key to install complete game).

Just get some german to let you use their steam account to download the game. I let spadel use mine and just changed the pw afterwards.

Ya, I'm pretty sure I logged into my brothers steam to dl the game when i got my new computer a few months ago
