I think its more likely it actually started at the Wuhan Research Lab 280m from the market, where they were studying Bats and Viruses.

is this still a thread for crying about games? bc i just played a game as France vs Japan on Borneo on RE where I initially crushed him with a musket semi-ff, and then he dragged the game on for an hour building walls all around the map and making a huge navy, which he upgraded with every card available so I couldn't kill it. I finally was in the Imperial Age, 200 score ahead of him, but he was in Industrial just monitoring my base and spamming Informers so I couldn't build docks, and killing my culverins and heavy cannons with ships, and dancing morutaru in and out of boats. I POSSIBLY could have won if I got imperial upgrades for artillery and pushed really hard to build docks, since he must have been out of food and running low on wood at that point. But I went into the game expecting a 15 minute game and it was reaching 1 hour and I had to leave, so I resigned, with a 200 score lead and an Age ahead.

Possibly the most frustrating game I've ever played. the most frustrating part was he just spammed walls all around the island in random ways, and he could build them faster than I could destroy them, so it ended up blocking the pathing for my cannons and military so much. Tried a trade monopoly but on Borneo literally every position is in range of monitors on RE. Thank god they fixed that in EP.

now I am realizing that I should have pushed his Great Buddha wonder to stop the informers ability which just allowed him to deny my docks so many times

I don't think it can be both.
Typically when something is the best, it means that it is "excelling all others"

To further complicate matters... There are several versions of AoE3 and each of them obviously can't be the best. Each of them can be good, but only one can be the best.

Ngl... I suffer from AoE3 related Dunning-Kruger.
Whenever I watch top players making the slightest mistake, I always think “jeez what a noob, I could do that much better”

I previously cured myself by for example getting rekt by Xeelee. That kinda made me realize how bad I am.

Now that I stopped playing I no longer have a cure.

This forum feels like a joke at times...and makes me not wanna come back and discuss stuff about the game. Atleast it's not worse than the official aoe forum. I've lost all the motivation or fun or whatever it is called...I've lost it entirely to play this game and uninstalled it. I guess I should discontinue discussing about it too. IRL I never felt so welcome anytime or anywhere. I was so glad that I found esoc but now it's different to me. I'm done with this game and its community. I'm incapable of contributing anything here and I probably shouldn't exist. So this is kind of a goodbye (for real this time), but I understand...you don't even know who I am and probably don't have to care. Goodbye to you anyway!
