Possible ESOC Mandela Effect?

Post by fightinfrenchman »

If you're not familiar with it, the idea of a Mandela Effect: "The phenomenon where it is discovered that a global, well known fact has apparently changed for A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE. The effect & name refers to people remembering Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s, when he actually survived long after his release."

The reason I bring this is up because I distinctly remember my entire time on ESOC being called "The Foot" due to my distinctive 3d foot character avatar. I even had a movement going to #modthefoot, and there was a foot emoticon for the forums. But today all of a sudden all foot instances have been replaced by an ear. Now I know my memory is infallible and I am correct about this, but I'm just wondering if anyone else here is from the same universe as me where it was a foot instead of an ear.

I fell victim to this when I thought for sure that in "2001: A Space Odyssey" Dave, as he gets closer to the monolith, he tells Hal "my god, it's full of stars". Not in the movie at all. Just rewatched it last month. Was disappointed it wasn't in there because it was my favorite moment. I can even envision it. The tone, the camera view, the feeling of.....wonder. This moment that I thought was so impactful just does not exist. Was quite the "wtf" moment for me.

In your case, no, you have always been ear. Additionally, I know you're trolling.
Time is wise and our wounds seem to heal to the rhythm of aging,
But our past is a ghost fading out that at night it’s still haunting.

Ear rekt by a flower. If you had been nose you could've smelled it!
Fine line to something great is a strange change.

It's possible there is another universe where I am The Nose. Right now I'm stuck in the ear one though

The famous quote that opens the film sequel 2010: The Year We Make Contact—"My God—it's full of stars!"—is actually not in the 2001 film, although it is in the 2001 book.
~Wiki, though you probably know this already :hmm:

Why is it so hard to believe that Xeelee is from an alternate universe where it is the original movie?

This one is dumb because the second to last verse does

Also this thread isn't about the Mandela Effect generally, just how it's impacted me and the new universe I'm in.
