It is true imo that people (including myself) flame other's much more often than we need to. Some of it is light hearted banter, that is taken too seriously by one side, some of it is actually meant to hurt the other person. However I don't think that this problem is resolved in an attempt to be nicer (as this is usually requires an inauthentic behaviour, that you will regret longterm). Best way to not get unnecessarily salty when playing games, is to just have a rl outside of the game, that way you just don't care whether or not you lost, and therefor won't flame as much (True for most people at least).
