This seems to go unnoticed. But basically this is why you can't (and should not) use any of the results on this poll to make decisions...UrvyZnapy wrote:@Goodspeed I see my name in the poll but I did not do it. Probably more people on that list are being impersonated too.
There's no way to tell how many others are being impersonated

That's why they should just ignore the poll and ban people who are racist, to make the forums less racist.91 wrote:This seems to go unnoticed. @fightinfrenchman
Before lecturing others on what they should think or say, why don't you take a long hard look at the racial maps in your country:
https://demographics.virginia.edu/DotMap/
There's a button there "Add Map Labels" to toggle city names. You can zoom in and watch the amazing state of apartheid in which neighbourhoods in the USA live.
Atlanta: southern part mostly inhabited by black communities, nothern part by white neighbourhoods interspersed with some Hispanic neighbourhoods
Chicago: north occupied mostly by whites and some asians, south by blacks, western side by hispanics
Detroit: entire inner city occupied by blacks, suburbs by whites
Etc etc
When are you guys going to deal with reality, instead of being so uppity and offended by words? Maybe that's why you get so triggered by words, because you never solved the problem on the ground. So you have to tread very carefully around specific words, because it's reality that is actually explosive.

Let's pick a random case that is not very strongly patterned.
This is Denver:
This is Johannesburg from South Africa, that was once an apartheid state:
Seems like South Africa, that was once an apartheid state, managed to integrate multiple communities a bit better than the USA, at least in the central part of Johannesburg.

That map honestly doesn't prove racism. People of common culture come together, live together and that's how neighborhood develops. This is true in almost every country. Racism would exist when in your map a black isn't allowed to buy house in white or Hispanic area or allowed to enter those areas. Afaik it isn't like that. It just proves majority of people from same backgrounds, culture prefer to live together
Fine line to something great is a strange change.
Re: A poll on ESOC off topic controversial content
That could be the case for the first generation of migrants. But the USA is a very socially mobile country, people keep moving for jobs inside the same city, as well as inside states and the whole country.
So for those who are no longer first generation migrants and who became culturally American, such patterns shouldn't still exist, don't you think?
I mean, do you think someone whose ancestors were Chinese, when they arrived in the USA in the 19th century, is still culturally Chinese after more than a century and a few generations have passed?

If you think America is just one culture, you are wrong. America is culturally very diverse. Every year hundreds of thousands of migrants come to America. A culture simply doesn't die off in few years specially when you are surrounded by same cultural people. As an Indian if I ever went to US, I would definitely be looking for an Indian majority neighborhood among other factors. I am not saying racism doesn't exist, however the map you provided itself isn't any clear indication of existence of racism.
